Arena of Valor has finally arrived in North and South America, bringing a rare, fully-polished MOBA experience to iOS. It's a classic MOBA much like League of Legends when it comes down to its core elements. If you're looking to get into the wild world of MOBAs, Arena of Valor is a great entry point.

However, there are a few things you should take into account if you're a beginner. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Find a hero you like and stick with it

Even just starting out, there are quite a few heroes to choose from. We recommend that you experiment with a few of them to get a feel for how they play, and then play with just one or two of those regularly. Focusing on one hero to start will help you master that character and it's a consistent way to get the basics of the game under your belt. Once you start winning consistently with one or two beginner heroes, you can start to branch out.

Unlock some free heroes

The game offers plenty of ways to unlock new heroes without spending actual cash. One such way is to play the Road to Glory daily events. If you complete three matches in Road to Glory, you'll win one free hero. Rinse and repeat each day until you have 8 new characters in your roster.

Check out the Pro Builds

In the armory on the right side of the screen, you'll see the option to automatically equip your hero with a Pro Build. This setting will kit your character out with the item set most popular with the top players. This will show you what makes a good build early on.

Make good use of the community

Arena of Valor has a super active community thanks to its massive popularity. The best way to learn is to find other folks to play with and talk to more experienced players. You'll find plenty of Discord servers dedicated to Arena of Valor, and Tencent has their own official server. The Arena of Valor subreddit is also a great jumping off point if you want to find additional resources or people to bounce ideas off of.
