The end of the year is a time for reflection, of course, as we look back at some of the best games out in 2016 (more to come on that soon!). But we also already have a bunch of games we’re eagerly awaiting once the new year rolls around as well. Here are some of the most anticipated games of 2017.

To the Moon HD

To the Moon originally arrived on PC in 2011 and immediately captured the hearts of games enthusiasts everywhere. It’s a simple RPG that tells a beautiful, bittersweet story of love and death and a touch of time travel, all set to one of gaming’s finest soundtracks. If you missed it a few years back, now is the time to give it a try as the game makes its way to mobile in 2017.

Thimbleweed Park

Thimbleweed Park looks like an average murder-mystery point and click on the surface, but it seeks to break through and try some really interesting things when it launches in early 2017. Ghosts, clowns, and other odd characters make up the cast, telling a story that eerily blurs the line between reality and fantasy.

Alto's Odyssey

Alto’s Adventure is one of the best mobile games of all-time, so naturally we’re quite worked up over Alto’s Odyssey, the follow up to the classic snowboarding endless runner. Extreme winter sports sounds like an odd mix for beautiful pastel environments and dramatic landscapes, but that’s what makes it so special. Pictures hint at a change of setting, although that’s all we know about the game for now.

Mythic

Halfbrick Studios, one of the biggest presences in mobile games, is jumping into the collectible card games craze with its new game, Mythic, which is now in beta on Android. The cards will feature popular figures from ancient mythology and history and you’ll play out your strategies on a game board for an interesting change of pace.

Mysterium

This popular board game about the supernatural and interpreting ghostly messages is coming to mobile, incorporating both single-player and multiplayer campaigns into the mobile version. Mysterium is a cooperative storytelling game in which you help a voiceless spirit solve its own murder mystery. We can’t wait to see how animation and sound help bring this gorgeous tabletop game to life.

2017 is shaping up to be a strong year for mobile games, and that says a lot as we come down from 2016, a year that had its own showing of fantastic titles. Expect the reveal of many more exciting mobile adventures as 2017 starts to unfold.
