Esports is very likely the way of the future, with events for games like League of Legends and CS:GO drawing massive crowds, while millions of others sit at home streaming tournaments or playing on their own. It may seem like all of that excitement is only happening on PC and consoles, but you would be surprised to find that there are a few popular esports on mobile, too, and the field is growing.

World of Tanks has really taken off in recent years, and Blitz, which puts major emphasis on online multiplayer, is working to make some serious headway in the sports space. World of Tanks Blitz pits two teams of seven players in an intense tank battle that is a lot more complicated than it sounds.

Developer Wargaming announced in September that it's taking initiative to create an esports league around World of Tanks Blitz, adding training rooms and other tools for wannabe pros while also hosting official tournaments.

Hearthstone has a huge following on Twitch, along with a live championship tour with a handsome $1 million prize pool, too. It's a card game that pairs complex strategy with heavily involved deck building to present an esport that may be easy to learn, but is tough to master.

Vainglory

With its faithful following in South Korea, and a number of major esports organizations like Team Secret gathering teams, Vainglory has grown quite a bit and is a truly impressive mobile MOBA. The game was designed to be played on mobile devices, with a minimalist UI and unique one-lane map that complements touch screen controls nicely.

If you have some extra down time over the holiday weekend, maybe spend some time checking one of these games out. Not only are they fun to play, they're also thrilling to watch, especially when incredibly talented pro teams face off against each other.
