Become the big bad and create your own trap-riddled dungeons in Tormentis
You need to have that little something to stand out in the gaming world of a dozen copycats coming out every week. Or, as Tormentis proves, you can smash two genres together and make something that sounds mouth-wateringly interesting. Early Access launched on Steam in July, but now you can take the fun on the road on Android.
Tormentis is an asynchronous multiplayer action RPG that plays like Diablo or Path of Exile, complete with that near-topdown skill-slinging action gameplay. It's always fun, of course, but then 4 Hands Games went and threw in some dungeon building, and kicked the concept right into high gear. Tormentis allows you to build your own trap-laden levels, and tackle a whole community of others.
Your dungeons can be built from a huge range of rooms that can be connected together. Pepper them with a bevvy of traps and monsters, or use the terrain against players with a variety of decorations that can create dead-ends or hard-to-access areas. There is one drawback though; you have to successfully complete it once before you release it to the public.
The other side of the coin comes when you are the one doing the invading. You can do battle with one of three weapon types which will determine your available skills. These can be augmented with the talent tree; there are no classes so you can create your own customised build. And of course, what Diablo-like would be complete without a gigantic amount of loot?
Completing dungeons will see you ammas a quite the armoury of equipment, all of which can either be equipped or placed on the auction house to trade with others. There are over 40 legendary items to find, perfect for those rare hunters amongst us. Finally, you can tackle seasonal events, such as the currently ongoing winter festival, for limited seasonal decorations and items.
Tormentis is available to download from Google Play. The mobile version is free to play and ad-supported, but you can, through an IAP, go ad-free if you desire some uninterrupted dungeon plundering.
