Though I'm certainly no stranger to apps, 2015 was the year I took the plunge and played and completed the most diverse list of games in my history as a mobile gamer.

While there was a veritable flurry of releases I'm still trying to keep track of, it's time to make things a little clearer and crown my best games of 2015.

Believe me, it was tough.

The best

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector

+ Universal & Apple Watch App - Designed for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch
Released: 2014-10-21 :: Category: Game

FREE!

I waited a very long time to get my hands on the English version of Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector, much longer than I should have, but you have to understand how cute these cats are.

I've spent way too much time on this app trying to collect as many cats as possible, and I've still not seen everything the app has to offer. Keeping the adorable felines happy is all I'm concerned with when I unlock my iPhone these days.

Well, that and how many fish I can get from each kitty visitor.

The rest

Fallout Shelter

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-06-15 :: Category: Game

FREE!

Never before has the Wasteland been so adorable! This free to play simulation set in the Fallout universe had a surprise debut at E3 2015, and I've been trying to cultivate the best vault I possibly can since then.

It also serves as a great companion for Fallout 4.

Need for Speed No Limits

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-10-01 :: Category: Game

FREE!

It's been a while since an arcade racer captured my heart in such a way.

If you're also a fan of arcade racing or looking to add another mobile racing title to your collection, you could do a whole lot worse than Need for Speed: No Limits.

In fact, I'd recommend it as a primer for getting into these types of games if you're not quite familiar with how racers look and feel on mobile devices. It'll get you up to speed really quick.

Lara Croft: Relic Run

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-05-25 :: Category: Game

FREE!

Lara Croft has had some excellent adventures in the last couple of years. Some might say they've even outperformed her classic original games in many ways, and I'd be hard-pressed to tell them they're wrong.

Square Enix's fantastic addition to the franchise is Lara Croft: Relic Run, an endless runner dressed up in much more eloquent clothing. It's simple without being overtly so, yet challenging enough to keep fans of the classic format happy.

In short, it's definitely one Tomb Raider spinoff you'll want to try.
