If you haven’t heard already, Shards of Infinity is the new hotness around these parts. It takes the best aspects of both deck-builders and collectible card games (CCGs) and mashes them into a delightful competitive multiplayer game.

Winning in Shards of Infinity doesn’t come easy though. There’s no one set of cards you should look to get or progression of moves to make to generally do well. With that said, there are some things you can do to make sure you’re always a competitive player. Check out some of the most useful tips for new players below:

Ok, so if you're like me, you've been playing (and sometimes waiting) your way through AFK Arena, only to learn there's a lot more to it than there appears on the surface. There's guilds, a PvP arena, and all sorts of other systems and game modes to pay attention to, and–quite frankly–it can be confusing.

Today, I want to demystify one of the more unique game modes in AFK Arena, the Arcane Labyrinth. This is a quasi-roguelite mode where you take the units you've been powering up and try to battle your way through three floors of a dungeon. It just so happens that this dungeon is full of super powerful enemies, amazing loot, and permadeath. Just in time for Easter, AFK Arena launched their first special event. Egg Hunters is all about hunting down ways to collect a new currency (eggs, naturally), and then redeeming them for neat prizes.

While it sounds cool in practice, it's actually probably not all it's cracked up to be. In any case, see below what you can and should expect from this Egg Hunters event so you can make the most of it.

AFK Arena may be a less intense form of a gacha game, but that doesn’t mean it’s totally straightforward. As with other games in this genre, there’s a bevy of systems, modes, currencies, etc. that you’ll want to be familiar with as soon as you start playing, regardless of whether you’ll be engaging with them immediately or not. Spellsword Cards: Demontide is a wonderful little single-player card game, but it can also be quite unforgiving. Parts of it definitely look and feel like Hearthstone, but you can’t just play this game like its your favorite collectible card game (CCG) and expect to do well.

Specifically, Demontide’s Campaign Mode will punish you heartily unless you learn a few key lessons that the game unfortunately doesn’t do a great job of teaching you. Were you disappointed by The Elder Scrolls: Blades? You're not alone. It's a bad game that gives off one of the worst first impressions I've ever seen.

If Blades was your first foray into mobile games in a while though, I feel for you. Why? Because Blades is a poor representation of what mobile gaming can be. It plays into the platforms worst tendencies, but there are lots of mobile games out there that don't do this and are better for it.

When REKT! first came out, I was impressed with the game’s ability to channel the gameplay of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in a small, streamlined package. Be that as it may, I was also pretty underwhelmed with the game’s lack of content.

Fast-forward a year and a half and REKT! now has quite a bit more stuff in it. Given that the game is now more fleshed-out than ever, I went ahead and dove back into REKT! to see if it feels like more than the proof of concept it felt like at launch.

There's no denying that Scorcher from Radiangames is a difficult game. It's the sort of game where, when you first start playing, you're going to die over and over and over again. There's a chance that those repetitive deaths are going to put you off from going deeper into the game, and that would be a real shame.

Game preservation is a problem.
