Trapped 3D:
Trapped 3D combines a 3D logic puzzle with an urgency to keep a robot fueled with energy. Getting the robot to each stage's exit is only hampered by locked doors, blocks that need to be moved, and a robot that is constantly running out of juice. Currently there are 24 mind numbing puzzles, with another 24 on the way. If you have ever wanted to feel like a rat searching for cheese in a maze, this may well be a way to fill that need.

Angry Rhino Rampage:
Angry Rhino Rampage takes the constant running game and injects it with one insanely upset rhinoceros. The rhino starts running at a slow pace, but soon it is full bore sprinting. Fruit carts, poachers, and rock piles stand no chance against the fury that fuels this rhino. There are even rhino facts to add just a bit of education to the overall game. Addiction comes in many forms, even raging animals.

Falling Fred:
Those jumping to super heights games are a dime a dozen. It’s time to take that premise and change it up. Instead of jumping, players are now falling through an endless tunnel. The goal is to try and avoid the inevitable for as long as possible: becoming a bloodstain on the walls. With 20 different obstacles, keeping Fred’s head on may be a task only for those with quick reflexes. Players can even share their “landings” with one another via Facebook and Twitter.

WiFi2HiFi:
Got a library of music on your computer that you want to wirelessly stream to your stereo? WiFi2HiFi turns your iPhone into a wireless audio receiver. No more syncing music folders, long cords draped across the floor, or moving a computer next to your stereo. Just fire up the desktop app, load your favorite computer audio app, and let the wireless streaming goodness commence. Wirelessly streaming high quality audio just got easier.

World Atlas:
Paper maps are quickly becoming an antique form of navigation. World Atlas brings on the power of several map types into one good looking app. Political maps, physical maps, time zones, and even satellite maps are all available in one convenient location. Even better, these maps are not of just one regional area, but the entire world. Quickly, and easily, find cities, distances, and directions all in one app.

Stylish Dash –
The one thing the internet has taught us is that stick people are notorious badasses. They get their kung-fu fighting on, perform crazy battles, and even save the world. Now these folks add yet another skill to their every growing resume: stylishly running and flying. Stylish, because you can dress up your stick person with swanky outfits. The dash part comes in as you run, jump, fly, and destroy obstacles in your path. Mini games, achievements, and endless replay will make this well worth the investment.

Shadow Run –
Shadow Run is another endless running game in which you must run from left to right. What Shadow Run offers is a beautiful world, simplistic controls, and an addiction level that just may make you want to sneak away from your desk for just one more shot. Sometimes, those simple games are the most time consuming.

Dirt –
You take the role of a dead cat in this game, but you are no ordinary feline. No, you managed to pass to the afterlife with a pickaxe and a curiosity that living cats would envy. Why you are trapped underground is unclear, but what is clear is you will put that pickaxe to use to excavate the ground. Digging will yield clues to why you are underground, unearth new shiny things, and provide you with potentially endless amounts of gameplay. Besides, you’re a skeleton cat swinging a pickaxe and wearing boots; what's not to love?

iBanjo –
You may rejoice as iOS finally has a banjo app. Yes, this means you can finally play that infamous tune from Deliverance wherever you go. You will need to practice a lot if you ever plan to get as good as Steve Martin though. iBanjo has crystal clear sampling, so you can rock out at the office if you like. Find someone with a guitar, drums, and fiddle app and start your own iOS Bluegrass band!

If you have a need to create elegant PDF’s from photos, this is the app to do it. Using a proprietary algorithm, this app will take any photo from the camera or photo library and convert it into a beautiful PDF. Once the PDF is created, you can email, print, and share your works. If you have to send signed documents to people, this is a great tool in helping you with this task.

GangofDodge –
Time to dodge a few bullets and hope you can stay alive. You will have to be fast though, as this is some frantic tilt-based action. There are three modes to play, with one taking a page right from Fat Princess. That’s right, you dodge bullets and eat cake, all while turning into a blimpified princess. This maybe worth playing just to see how well fat royalty can last against a barrage of bullets.

Google Maps maybe great for getting directions, but there is one issue with it. What happens when you do not have a connection to the internet? This is where OffMaps 2 shines. You no longer need an internet connection to browse maps and figure out where the closest bagel shop is. Thousands of international locations are ready for your use. Heck, there is even offline Wikipedia knowledge for those that like to know about all the famous landmarks. Don’t be lost again.

Five For Friday: Week of January 21, 2011

A little boy is lost in a magical world, and it is up to you to guide him through this dark and mysterious world. The game boasts two control schemes, crazy immersion, and puzzles to keep you coming back for just one more try.

Guns on Wheels –
Someone has caused you inconsiderable amounts of grief and heartache. In your furious rage, you strap some guns to your vehicle and take to the streets to lay down your wrath. Five For Friday: Week of January 14, 2011

Posted by Chris Nitz on January 14th, 2011

Avatar of War: The Dark Lord –
Line drawing games just got a bit more interesting with Avatar of War. Instead of guiding boats and planes to safety, you command an army with various line gestures. You will need to master these drawing techniques if you hope to defeat the Dark Lord and his pet. The game comes with two modes of play, over 20 units and skills to upgrade, and over 15 weapons to unlock. Tack on a fun cartoon presentation and you maybe hooked for hours at a time.

BattleSpell –
Get those iPhones ready card floppers, for a new card based game is ready for your enjoyment. The goal is to build a powerful deck in order to bring your enemies energy bar down to zero. You can also win by getting your energy bar up to 100. Each hero has a unique ability which maybe played only once per match. If you have ever played a game of Magic The Gathering or World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, you will feel right at home here!

Action Commando –
Time for yet another rescue mission with this run-and-gun style game. You will sport weapons like pistols, machine guns, and grenades in your heroic rescue efforts. The enemy is strong, but you are stronger. Be quick though, the enemy has little patience for your violent ways, or the nagging of the captured hostage.

GraphPad –
Sometimes you need a change of scenery to give the mind a needed rest from the humdrum cubicle. Yet, you may be on a deadline to submit that scale drawing of a nose hair plucker (now you understand the excerpt of this post -- Ed). GraphPad will allow you to quick and easily sketch out that scale drawing, annotate it, and send it back to the office, or better yet the client. The app will even straighten out crooked lines for you. This is a perfect app for contractors working on-site, or those who cannot clamor out of bed.

iJournal – iPad notebook and journal -
The great thing about the iPad is how easy it is to incorporate into daily life. One of the best features it has is becoming an electronic notepad/journal. iJournal takes this concept head-on and makes it gorgeous in the process. Not only can you quickly jot your thoughts down, but also you can choose various text styles and backgrounds that are very elegant and pleasing to look at. Notes are easily sorted, edited, or even deleted. You can even quickly pick up where you left off with the helpful home screen navigation. This maybe one of the most useful apps you download yet.
