Updates to the app will open up more of the The Whos’ world to fans and users, exclusive 50th anniversary tour access and a fresh look at the band using unprecedented access to The Who’s archive of recordings, gigs footage and extensive back catalogue of hits. Fans will be able to use their preferred streaming platform to purchase tracks via iTunes or Google Play from the new ‘The Who Hits 50’ compilation. Future updates will include new tour material & further access to more content & further in app streaming and purchasing.
New versions of the app will be made live alongside 2015 anniversary touring, tickets sales, gigs & album releases. You will be able to experience the bands’ music even if you didn’t get tickets to the concerts.
The app will include rarely seen photos, images & album memorabilia from the band’s extensive archive including some unseen images from Roger Daltrey’s personal collection.

By pushing the boundaries of rock and roll, creating musically and visually a revolution in music, The Who have influenced and inspired generations. To mark their 50th anniversary the pioneering band are offering a whole new way to experience their vast catalogue of hits with ‘The Who’, a ground breaking 3D immersive app, available for smartphone, tablet and desktop and on soon to be released Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headsets.
Making headlines since 1964 for their rebellious gigs and revolutionary yet inspiring behaviour, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwhistle and Keith Moon as The Who gave a voice to an emerging teenage generation; that voice of a generation still resonates today. Anyone who has had tickets to The Who or put one of their albums on the turntable will be able to experience the band in a whole new way with this app…
The Who Immersive App is available free in app stores and a premium version will be released on Oculus Rift Virtual Reality in 2015 to coincide with the band’s world tour. Fans can stream music and video content and explore a 3D virtual world modelled on famous moments and landmarks from their revolutionary 50 year career as pioneers of rock.

As a part of their 50th anniversary, The Who has continued to be pioneers of using technology to present and experience their music in a way to challenge the imagination. The app features an exhibition of the ‘The Who Hits 50’ compilation, presented in a revolutionary new format. Rare and unseen images from historic gigs along with album artwork and artefacts from the last 50 years provides a rich, interactive backdrop alongside the opportunity for purchasing or streaming music and video.
If you’ve never bought gig tickets to The Who, you’ll experience the bands’ history as pioneers of rock in a radical new way and discover the albums that pioneered a revolution in rock and inspired a generation. If you’re already a fan you can unearth treasures such as gig highlights or unheard album material and immerse yourself in the world of The Who as if you had to tickets to the concert and were in the front row.
