What's New

- There's a new trigger for geo-based actions available which can trigger the action whenever the device has significantly changed its location. This trigger is not based on a certain region, it always triggers when the device has moved significantly. The iOS itself defines what is considered as a "significant location change" (which is approx 500 m, max every 5 min) and can do this with almost no impact to the battery life. This trigger is most useful if you want to track your movement permanently and use the Web-Hook feature to store all the data.

- There're new geo-based actions which can be used to start or stop long-term recordings.

- For all actions which are defined to start a track recording, there's an option to automatically stop the recording again after a certain time or when the region where the recording has started was reached again. Using this option you often don't need to explicitly define another action to stop the recording again. Even though a second action to stop the recording can be much more flexible, because a dedicated action for stopping the recording can also stop manually started recordings or recordings started by other actions.

- There're now new export options. It is possible to export tracks with a reduced data set as "Routes". These "route" export options don't keep all coordinates of a track (approx. 1 coordinate per second), instead only the minimum amount of coordinates are kept, which are necessary to reproduce the path (for example when traveling a straight section of a street, only 1 coordinate at the beginning and one at the and of this section will be kept, within curves some more coordinates are kept). The export of Routes can be done as CSV and as GPX file.

- There's a new option for Web-Hook which can repeat sending data to the Web-Hook server whenever this has failed. Please note, the App only tries for about 5 days to send the data and only for temporary errors (for example if there's no internet connection, or the server is down/unreachable).

- There are some new commands available for controlling the App via „pado“ URL (pado://cmd). The following commands (cmd) are available: startRecording, stopRecording, startLongTermRecording, stopLongTermRecording, startStepCounter, stopStepCounter, stepCounter, Tracks, Actions, timeTracking, monitoredRegions, allRegions

- There's a new red color scheme available (in light and dark).

- Bugfix: On the iPad the option "Vibrate" for the actions is no longer available (because the iPad can't vibrate)

- Bugfix: The calendar view is now evaluating the first day of the week option from the system settings and sorts the weekdays accordingly.

- Bugfix: When selecting music within the "actions" the OK/Cancel buttons where not always visible.

- Bugfix: When selecting a region within the actions, the currently selected region will be now automatically shown on the map and the list of regions.

App Description

Pado is all about geo tracking.

RECORD TRACKS/ROUTES

This App provides several easy and powerful ways to record tracks or routes (for example of your hiking or cycling tours, of your trips with a motorcycle or car, workouts like jogging etc.), draw them on a map and analyze them graphically using speed and altitude profiles and bar charts.

You can start and stop recording a track manually but also fully automatically in the background, without any user interaction. Just tell the App to start and stop the recording when leaving or entering certain regions, you can even limit the recording to a certain time period, and the App will do the rest automatically.

The tracks can be exported and imported as GPX and KML.

Especially for sports activity, the App can give you status updates about speed, duration and distance using Speech output.

STEP COUNTER

Pado also has a step counter (on devices with the required hardware).

TIME TRACKING

The App provides a Time Tracking feature, which will gives you an easy way to log your whereabouts at certain regions automatically. Just define the regions you want to observe, the App is doing the rest automatically. The logged data can be presented as bar chart and exported as text or CSV file.

LOCATION-BASED ACTIONS

When entering or leaving certain regions the App can automatically record tracks, post notifications, play music, trigger "external" actions using the "WebHook" protocol and more.

ICLOUD SYNC

Tracks and regions can be synced across devices using the iCloud. This makes it easy to record tracks on an iPhone and evaluate these later on a larger iPad screen.

APPLE WATCH

Pado also supports the Apple Watch (all models) and can be used fully autonomously to record tracks or routes (which means you do not need to take the iPhone with you to use the Watch App). This does even work on Apple Watch models without GPS hardware (in which case the location services do use WLAN networks nearby to get the geo location). All tracks can be displayed directly on the Watch on a Map, and you can zoom and scroll the map with the track. Alternatively you can also use the Watch App to remote control the iPhone App.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Pado supports all iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple Watch devices.
Unlike many other Apps, this App does also work great on iPod Touch and iPad models without GPS hardware (but you need to be within a region with a good WLAN coverage). On devices with GPS hardware it works best. The step counter requires an iPhone 5s or newer or an Apple Watch.

HEALTH-KIT

As an option, Pado can use the heart rate data from Health-Kit and display it together with the recorded Track speed and pace charts. When recording tracks on the Apple Watch, Pado can also measure the heart rate. Pado will never store the heart rate data anywhere (neither within Pado nor externally), and will use the HealthKit data only when explicitly enabled in the settings.

FINAL NOTES

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
