What's New

We were hoping for 10,000 people to join Dream:ON... we had 300,000 in the first week! Thank you to everyone involved!

Version 2.0.2 fixes a crash some people had when launching after the last update.

We have spent a lot of time reviewing all the feedback, and have made a whole bunch of improvements for version 2.0:

โ€” Screen turns off fully on iPhones

โ€” You can leave portrait-lock on

โ€” 10 more alarm sounds

โ€” iPod and iPad support

โ€” Vastly improved accessibility (VoiceOver) for users with visual impairments

โ€” Select a song from your device's music library as an alarm

โ€” Really fast sleep-graph!

โ€” Much more sensitive to your movements in the night

โ€” Soundscapes now adjust their volume more actively so they don't wake you up as much (this may still happen, everyone sleeps differently)

โ€” Improved self-calibration (helps with movement detection)

โ€” An improved the Dream Store and Diary

โ€” There were also a few bugs that we have fixed, and we've worked hard to increase performance under-the-hood

If you have any issues using Dream:ON, you can contact us from the Information page of the app, or by emailing [email protected]. Remember, we can't reply to comments on iTunes, so please help us by emailing your thoughts, questions and suggestions.

App Description

Dream:ON is the app to help influence your dreams. Over 11million dreams have been recorded so far! Before use, please read the IMPORTANT notes below.
โ€ข All Soundscapes are now FREE once you've downloaded โ€ข

Featured across the world on The BBC, LA Times, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Mashable, T3 and Sky News - launched at the Edinburgh International Science Festival 2012 by psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman from the University of Hertfordshire.

Dream:ON is showing results for about 50% of users who try it for a several nights in a row. It will not work for everyone and can take a number of nights to see results.

Approach the experiment with an open mind, try and forget your taking your phone to bed and remember controlled dreaming is not like turning on a tap, for some users it works the first night, others can take longer. As soon as you awake, complete the Dream Diary and feed back via the app so that we can continue to improve Dream:ON.

Dream:ON requires iOS 5.0 or greater.

โ€” HOW DOES IT WORK? โ€”

Put your device on the corner of the bed before going to sleep and Dream:ON begins monitoring your sleep pattern.

When it senses that you are dreaming, it plays a 'SoundScape' which has been crafted to help create your desired dream.

"We have created a new way of carrying out mass
participation experiments. We still know relatively
little about the science of dreaming and this app
may provide a real breakthrough in changing how
we dream, and record and track those dreams."
~ Professor Richard Wiseman

Dream:ON contains a state-of-the-art monitoring engine which will optimise itself. Remember to record your dreams and experiences so everyone can have sweet dreams.

โ€” THE SCIENCE โ€”

Research has shown that most our dreams occur during REM sleep and that your mind is particularly alert to other senses during this stage of sleep.

Dream:ON plays the 'SoundScape' to your subconscious during REM.

Almost everyone dreams several times each night. However, research suggests that people vary in their ability to incorporate the SoundScapes into their dreams and it may take several nights before Dream:ON is effective.

Lucid and controlled dreaming is not a new concept, however, using an iPhone to identify when you are at your most responsive, is. For many people who have mastered the art of lucid dreaming, this was a skill learnt over many years.

โ€” THE EXPERIMENT โ€”

You can view a graph of your movement during your sleep, tag Facebook friends who appeared in your dreams, and post a short description of your dream to our experimental 'Dream Bank'.

The 'Dream Bank' will be used to examine lots of different issues, including whether men and women differ in their dreams, how dreams vary with age, and if world events impact on the nation's dreams. All data sent to Dream:ON is totally anonymous.
