App Description

eMedCheck is an application that screens persons who have been exposed to anthrax and are seeking prophylactic antibiotic treatment.

After entering critical information about the persons in a household, the user receives for each person a recommendation on whether doxycycline or ciprofloxacin should be given.

The critical information includes whether each person is pregnant, breast feeding, or under 8
years of age and each person's allergies to antibiotics.

If neither antibiotic should be given, then the recommendation is to see a physician.

The data collected is non-identifiable and can be exported to a secure database server.
eMedCheck was developed for use only during a public health emergency by medical and non-medical professionals in mass prophylaxis clinic operations.

eMedCheck was created at the University of Maryland, College Park, with support from the Montgomery County, Maryland, Advanced Practice Center for Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response.
