Abby’s First Words is a colorful, fun educational experience for curious young minds. Abby’s First Words offers the following three exciting game modes:
TRACING
Trace uppercase and lowercase letters!
* After tracing a letter and thus practicing their hand-writing skills, children learn names of animals that begin with a given letter and listen to the phonetic sound that the letter makes by tapping on the sound icon.
READING
Recognize written names of animals and match them to their pictures!
* In this mini game, children practice their memory for words as well as recognition of animals. To tailor the app to children’s diverse levels of expertise, parents can convert this game to either a reading or a simpler word matching game.
SPELLING
The letters in the names of animals got all mixed up. Arrange the letters in the right order to make the word!
* This game is great for raising children’s awareness of the connection between letters and words and increasing their interest in nature by familiarizing them with names of animals.

One thing I don
I like the game and so does my son. BUT the only thing I don't like is that the opening screen has so many other games that you can buy along with the "start>>>>" button. So, my son who is 3 yo. looks at all the pretty pictures/colors of the other boxes and touches them first if I am not looking or his arm might brush over one of the other boxes and it takes him to internet screen of the company that makes the game to purchase another game. This is frustrating when he is playing with my ipad and I'm not looking b/c he thinks he's at a new game but he's not.
Unfortunately ALL the games by this company have 8 to 10 solicitations for other games on their opening screen and a very small "start" button to push to start the game.
Great and educational
I downloaded this particular game specifically for my younger 5 year old brother. I tried out the game first to make sure it worked well and what an amazing application!
My 3 year old loves it
My 3 year old loves this app. He chooses to play it over other non-educational games which makes me happy! I like the letter matching, repetition & encouragement the games provide.
