1961 was a year of great turmoil and change in the US, and in the world. Our 1961 app brings this tumultuous year to life. The program begins with President Eisenhower's farewell speech, warning of the Military Industrial Complex transitioning and President Kennedy's Inaugural speech. The program ends with an account of the arrival of combat helicopters in Vietnam.
Our 1961 app contains 16 video clips, nearly 100 high quality photos, as well as the texts of all of President Kennedy’s press conferences and addresses to the nation. In addition, the program chronicles the major events of the decade of the 1960s, month by month; including entries on events in the world, as well as a section on the JFK Presidency. Another section contains a listing of the popular records and best sellers, along with a series of magazine ads from 1961.
