Description

Morse-it is an easy-to-use application that lets you translate, interpret, type, learn, convert Morse code, and more.
You can run it on your iPhone or iPad and it is compatible with VoiceOver.

Note: By getting this app, you'll have access to several useful and fun features related to Morse code (these are the features explained in this description and visible in the screenshots).
In addition, you can unlock advanced features in the app if you need them: learning and social features. More information at the end of this description.

Type any text and it will be automatically encoded into a full-screen flashing effect of the corresponding Morse code.
The flashlight of your device is also used.

Your "SOS" messages will be seen quite far away!

Some sound will also be played accordingly. In detailed mode, the encoded text will scroll during the decoding process.

Tap some Morse code on the screen and the program will translate it into some text.
Several input types are supported: Novice, Straight Key, Memory Paddle, Iambic Paddle (A and B), Microphone. Left and right handed modes are supported.
Test and improve your skills: are you good enough to be understood?

Create Morse code audio files from a given text (or variables).
Use these files as you like: listen to them to train your decoding skills or use them as ringtones for your mobile phone.

Create beautiful abstract wallpapers for your device (or posters to be printed) by customizing the display of the dashes and dots of the sentence you like.

Exclusive feature that allows you to decode in real time the Morse code recorded by the microphone into text (note: the sound must be quite clear/loud and without much noise).
Some automatic calibration is performed, allowing adaptation to speed, tone and volume changes.

The full Morse alphabet (including prosigns) can also be viewed and the associated Morse code can be played.
Tapped and decoded text can be edited and exported to clipboard, in-app email and SMS.
A special screen allows textual conversion of Morse code and text. Exchange encrypted messages with your friends.

Wikipedia and Visual Mnemonic screens to get information and mnemonics about Morse code.
You can also add your own websites for in-app consultation.
The whole application is highly configurable (frequency, WPM, tone type, color, Morse code, variables ...)

A customizable today view widget can be added to your home screen to display the current date in Morse code.
Some custom actions are available in the shortcut app, and some features of the app can be triggered using Siri.

You can also become part of the Morse-it Social Club (thanks to a renewable subscription) and unlock the following Social features:
Messages, Forums, QSO Bot, Poem of the Day, Quotes of the Day, Games of the Day ... and more.

The following Learning features will also be unlocked (but can also be unlocked with a single one-time in-app purchase if you prefer):
Koch trainer, Sending trainer, Cards trainer, CWops Academy learning method, Quiz, Macros, Dictionaries: abbreviations, QSOs, mnemonics, timing (Farnsworth) and Morse alphabet/Prosigns personalization, appearance customization ... and more.

Some Morse-it features are powered by Icom, a world leader in the amateur radio market.

!!! As seen on TV !!! (UK) in Most Haunted Live: Apparently you can use it to communicate with ghosts (no guarantee though :D)

Awesome App!

I’m learning Morse and find this app a valuable training tool. I love being on the and use the decoder next to the radio so I can understand what is being coded. Works ok and it does pick up words here and there. But I guess if it’s being coded properly it decodes superbly. The only way to be serious about learning is to force oneself on the air cause that’s when it gets real and all pistons need to be firing on all 12 cylinders LOL. Seen the upgrade features alert about the haptics but clicked the message off before looking to see how to set it up.

Was Excellent 👎

Was a Beautiful app. "Now their ripping people off with subscription fees, with the excuse of their providing new upgrades, that I don’t care about.” 😡 (( subscriptions are for magazines. )) - Some applications require regular updates because much of their content changes, monthly or at least bimonthly. I have a number of large and complex applications that are not only for phones but computers too, that almost never need updates. It’s because they were very well thought out, and written well to begin with. Eventually some of the apps offered some great extras if you wanted them, but they worked wonderful all by themselves. The one time expense of the extras varied according to their content or complexity. Some were very nice, and I did purchase them. (Subscription was never mentioned). What’s to prevent you from changing your other applications to subscriptions.
"I have kept your app as a novelty, and I know most people don’t even use morris anymore.” I won’t pay an unnecessary subscription for an unnecessary novelty application. It’s kinda like a fidget spinner, because it’s sort of fun to play with once in a while, and it’s educational. So don’t get me wrong, because it was great the way it was.

Hello,
Subscriptions aren't just for magazines.
They are necessary for anything that requires continuous work, and for anything that involves regular charges (like web server hosting, for example).

Just take a look at the application's update history and you'll see that since 2009, the application has been regularly updated, not only for maintenance but also to add new features.
The fixed price you paid perhaps 10 years ago unfortunately hardly justifies the time required to maintain and improve the application anymore.

The features you're already using are still accessible: they don't require any subscription and are still improved and updated regularly.
So don't worry, everything you love is still there, and I'm still adding new basic (or learning) features (just like the start of support for the shortcuts application from the last update).
There's just one new subscription, with additional mainly social/online features that will hopefully help me maintain and improve this application for everyone.

Truly an amazing app if only...

...the lack of documentation didn’t serve to keep most of it’s awesome features a mystery! It is completely maddening to know there is must be a feature that does this or that only to be left to stumble around in the dark. It is certainly an Apple standard to build a product so well-designed that no instructions are necessary — do you have any idea how much work it is to attain that standard?! You are not even close! Please, please document this application. it is not nearly as much fun as developing a wicked cool app, but I can guarantee it would be the best CW application ever if only people could know what it can and does do! And please, take a look at what text and vids you to have out there — it is most misleading, inadequate, or assumes the user can read your minds.

Thank you for your message.
I take note of it.
As a single developer, I have to choose how I spend my time with the app.
Up to date documentation, global improvements, new features, ios upgrades adaptations, potential fixes are some of the possible choices.
There are pros and cons to spend time on one thing or another.
Of course, Apple with its thousands of engineers can do all of that (but you'll still find some people unsatisfied).
I don't pretend to compare to them.
The global decision I made here is that the basic features in the app (without going in the settings screen or getting the premium features) should be clear enough to be used intuitively.
The more complex features (changing the settings/using premium features), are mostly useful for people already interested and knowledgeable in Morse code, or interested enough on the subject to document themselves on the internet.
Most of the features / options should talk to them (even if may require to 'play' with them to see how they work)/
And in case there is something really too obscure in the settings/app, there is a support email that can be used to contact me.
Don't hesitate to contact me to this support email (contact@pacolabs.com) if you need help with something you don't understand in the app :)
