After all, jazz dance with its many forms, such as Charleston, Black Bottom, Lindy Hop and vernacular jazz steps like Shorty George, fishtail, snake hips and the camel walk (moonwalk), just to name a few, has propelled generation after generation to re-envision step after step.

Swing, like hip hop, is a cultural movement that attained popularity in the late 1920s thru 1940s. Its steps are the basis of today's hip hop, Bop, Stepping, Shag and so many other dances birthed during the 1960s. Swing dancing didn't die. It morphed into a plethora of regional social dances, took a hiatus during the disco era then came back with a vengeance along side hip hop.

Dance releases endorphin chemicals into your brain and makes you free alive and wanting to get on with the rest of your day. It is a positivity that can help you communicate better with other people. It gives you a better mindset. Socially it brings you closer to people.

Whether you dance on stage or simply at parties, there is no reason not to improve your dancing. Busting a move can be dangerous if not done properly, but it’s also nice to simply have that skill.
