Very handy

Have only used it one time the other day but it’s pretty dang awesome, I use it in conjunction with a lowrance hook 2 5x I have mounted on my boat. I love the fact that I can use it with my bass boat or with my Jon boat. It was 99.9% spot on with regards to depth, water temp and fish swimming by
I haven’t tried casting it, I have it tethered to 50 ft of military 550 cord and when I find a place then I throw it out on the side. The app is simple stupid to setup and use. It is water activated. Bought mine on sale for $100 at bass pro.

Great but Need an update

After playing around with it, it’s nice when it works, in my kayak to work properly i need to paddle very slow, after all, it’s really good but the app need an update, it’s been a year right now with no update i like to see a fish alarm in the update, because you cannot keep your eyes on the screen all the time, it would be better If you can hear the fish alarm. Comparing to Deeper sonar they have an update almost every three months, i thing Garmin are to lazy to improve there App, nice hardware but the App need an update to work better. And why there is no information anywhere about the battery life cycle, because I need to know what I’m gonna do if the battery dead completely the lifecycle it’s finish I mean, do I need to throw it away if this is your answer that’s not good you need to have an option to change the battery when it’s completely dead like deeper sonar do, if you want to be competitive.

Overall effective & convenient

I’ve been using this device for a couple of months now. The unit is small and easy to use, just attach a leash and pop it in the water. I use it from my pontoon boat when I fly fish for trout in lakes.

The user interface is fairly intuitive and the quality of the underwater view is generally excellent. I prefer the RAW setting.

Battery life is basically all day, but the unit will drain your phone battery. Bring a power bank to charge your phone if you’ll be using this for more than 4-5 hours. Charging the unit is simple, but hate that it uses a proprietary connector! Garmin, incorporate a USB C connector so I’m not screwed if I lose the included charge cord! Also, make sure the connector plug on the unit is completely dry when you plug in the charge cord.

One issue I have with the screen is the depth and temp readouts are extremely small and hard to read. If your phone is in the sun, good luck trying to see depth and temp. These two readouts should be much larger.

Overall I’m really happy with this unit and it’s so much easier to use than my old Fishin Buddy. I plan on using this in my boat as well, though I’ll use my iPad and will have a large screen readout to enjoy.

Highly recommended.
