Description

Call upon the power of your cursed Demon Mark to battle dragons, witches, and an undead army! Beware: each time you use it, the Mark grows stronger.

"Demon Mark: A Russian Saga" is a 200,000-word interactive fantasy novel by Vlad Barash and Lorraine Fryer, steeped in Russian folklore. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Once upon a time, in the land of Rus, you lived a simple life as the firstborn child of peasant farmers. But when the evil demon Uhin places the Demon Mark upon you and kidnaps your parents' second child, you'll set out on an epic adventure to reunite your family.

On your journey through Russian folklore, you'll confront the treacherous witch Baba Yaga, the seven-headed dragon Zmey Gorynych, the mythic giant Svyatogor, and the villainous Koschei the Deathless with his army of corpses.

Team up with the bogatyrs, the heroes of Russian folk tales: strong Ilya Muromets, pious Alyosha Popovich, and wise Marya Morevna. You and your talking animal companion will journey all the way to the Tsar and Tsaritsa's court in Kiev for assistance on your quest. Will the bards of Kiev sing the tale of your heroic victory, or your tragic sacrifice?

The Demon Mark is whispering to you. Do you hear it? Should you listen when it calls your name?

• Play as male, female, or non-binary

Can't dind a name ,

Eh

It's ok, but it's not great/good. The wolf as the loyal companion was my favorite. But I hate how the story instantly ends if you go into demon mode. I was expecting you would have near maxed physical and fighting stats if you kept using it as you turned into a demon. But nope, the game ends with a cliche "I'm too powerful for my own good, so I must hide away so no one can ever see me". Feels like a cop out and a cliche ending because u wanted to use a demon's power. Atleast with another hosted game, where you choose to be a demon summoner the game didn't abruptly end but accepted it and u got to use cool skills/abilities. This game wasn't worth the $5, the character wasn't me instead I felt like I was following along with some average choices. Edit: Giving this game one star since I just remembered how the author tried to force down their non-gender belief by having your sibling not have one.

"Darius" ,

Wow

I've played every choice of games and hosted game game to date and this ranks in the top 3 for worst games. Your choices lack real meaning, the grammar is poor, and if I'm fairly certain that whoever wrote this travesty decided to reverse every generic gender role they could throughout the story.

Don't even get me started on the sibling that I felt 0 connection to who suddenly goes gender neutral 5 pages in. The author took a full page just to describe how common children under age 10 want to change their gender. Are you for real?

*Spoilers* Your parents allow you at age 12 to arm yourselves and travel hundreds of miles alone for the benefit of your brother. And are pretty indifferent about it too.

There was not a single character in this whole game that felt even slightly human. I paid 5$ for a game that I'd regret buying for 1. If you're debating playing this game then don't. The Fall of Daria is just so much better. Go play that again instead.

Terribad

So, like a lot of the reviews are saying, this game is not worth any amount of money. Aside from lackluster writing and mediocre narrative, if you're excited about an "old time Russia" myth type story you are in the WRONG PLACE. Your "gender nonconforming sibling" (just like in ancient Russia! Remember?!) is shoved down your throat unceremoniously in the very beginning, which is apparently.... common place? In this tiny Russian village?? I don't care about the authors views, but to sacrifice a well-thought out plot or likable characters for the sake of an agenda is pretty self serving and I certainly didn't enjoy this game for its writing or story.
