Description

Use this beautifully designed Solar Calculator to easily figure our how many solar panels and batteries you might need for a particular setup.

Solar Calculator allows you calculate the required amount of panels based on the average daily watt-hours which is calculated by the average hourly watt hours of the devices you want the system to support. Solar Calculator then takes the size of each panel into consideration along with the typical amount of solar hours you get within your area and the % solar loss you typically have.

The batteries are calculated using daily amp hours which is based on the load voltage, battery capacity and depth of discharge.

This is a great utility to have handy for making quick solar system calculations. I designed this mainly for my own use so its specific to the info I was trying to obtain. If anyone would like to suggest any feature enhancements or has any particular requests, please feel free to send me an e-mail

A nice app to play with but lacking instructions

I gave this four stars instead of 5 because it lacks instructions. The image on the apps description page should have been blown up so it is readable. The questionable entry is ‘averge watts.’ Then I figured out this app is always calcuating for 24 hours. So instead of listing the total watts for my single 12V 370 AH battery system (Two six volt L16s)
iMac 81
Internet 75
lights 74
DVR 55
TV 65
Misc 50
Totsl = 420
You need to divide the 420 by 24 and multiply by the hours needed. For around seven hours my average wattage comes to 123.
I already have 5 12v 125 Watt panels. (I should have bought 6—always have an even number if I had I could set it up as as 3 24v panels.)
I have notice with the app that if I plug in 125 as the panel wattage it says for 123 watts I need six panels for my one 370 AH battery.
if I plug in 625 as my panel size it says I need one panel. It is nice for calculating how many hours I can get.
I do hope the developer with redo this and add a box for hours needed.
But it is well worth 99 cents.
