Nomad Games, has just released Version 3.4 of Talisman. The update includes a new game setup screen, new font, Language and text fixes, the 'View Board' option, and the Gambler character pack. The Gambler has the special ability to tempt fate by rolling 1 die and add his Craft against another player he lands on. If the gambler’s score is equal to or higher than the other character's score, he gains 1 fate. Otherwise, he must choose to lose 1 fate or 1 life. He can also discard fate after a die roll to reduce the odds.

Recently Nomad also gave us the Frostmarch expansion pack. It included 4 new characters (Necromancer, Leprechaun, Warlock, and Ogre Chieftain), 84 Adventure Cards, 20 Spells, 24 Warlock Quest cards and new alternative ending rules.

You can face the Ice Queen and her frozen minions for $4.99, and snag the Gambler character pack for $0.99.

Classic fantasy adventure board game Talisman is currently on sale on the App Store, priced at only $3.99. It's all in aid of the imminent release of The Frostmarch.

The board game app is the officially licensed version of the Games Workshop game of the same name, in which players embark on a quest for the Crown of Command. Offering both local and real-time online multiplayer, it's a relative bargain given the pricey physical alternative.

Talisman is on offer for a very limited time only, so swoop in and grab it for $3.99 now, if it appeals to your tabletop gaming sensibilities.

GDC 2014 - Talisman: Digital Edition is Looking Mighty Awesome

Posted by Rob Rich on March 19th, 2014

Talisman: Prologue was a pretty great adaptation of GamesWorkshop's rather popular board game, but many seemed to view it as incomplete. I mean it was purely a solo affair, so that sort of makes sense. However, now Nomad Games is getting ready to release Talisman: Digital Edition and appease those who were hoping for a more multiplayer-driven affair.

Talisman: Digital Edition will still let you play against AI if you'd rather keep things solo, but it also offers asynchronous play. In case you're wondering how that works with spell interrupts, it basically uses a combination of push notifications and a timing window for players who want to try and counter an opponent's casting. Nomad also has plans for continuous support by adding new cards every few weeks, making new expansions available every few months, and even offering a curated library of user-created content.

You should be able to find Talisman: Digital Edition on the App Store for the iPad at the end of April for $7.99.

It's pretty, and it will certainly conjure memories, but Talisman: Prologue is only an appetizer - not the main course.
