iPad App - Designed for iPad

This app looks like a ton of fun, and it's 50% off to celebrate its launch. While $15 may seem like a lot to be the sale price, these types of professional music apps tend to be a bit on the more expensive side of things. Korg has a rep for quality, though, so if you're a musician, you might want to check this out now.

● The world-wide best-selling Polysix polyphonic synthesizer, fully replicated on your iPad
● Use the newly developed Polyseq polyphonic step sequencer to control the Polysix
● A music production environment including two Polysix units, a drum machine, and a mixer
● Dual Kaoss Pads with chordal support make it easy for anyone to play analog synth sounds
● Polyshare powered by SoundCloud lets you publish, share, and remix songs with iPolysix users

Propellerhead Software, developer of music-centric software apps, has just released Figure, an iPhone music creation app for instant inspiration.

Figure allows amateur and professional musicians to create quick, original music in seconds by entering drum, bass, and lead synth beats. Figure features an easy-to-use interface that even non-musicians can use to produce their own music. The app description even claims that no previous playing skills are needed to use the app.

Propellerhead’s CEO, Ernst Nathorst-Böös, describes the inspiration behind the creation and interface of Figure, saying, “mobile users’ aspirations are quite different... They desire immediacy, a diversion, to start playing fast and most of all to have fun.”

Gesture controls are used to tweak and alter sounds. Users play Figure by sliding a finger across the play pad. The sound is always kept on key and on beat. The synth sound is powered by Propellerhead’s Reason, a popular virtual studio.

Figure is available now for only $0.99 on the App Store.

Make 'Em Laugh with Laugh Synth

Posted by Jordan Minor on December 2nd, 2011

Apps allow us to create so many different kinds of things. Everything from movies to presentations to auto-tuned songs can be made on Apple's mobile devices with these little programs. Thanks to Amildio Inc, the maker of apps like Touch DJ and Seline, soon users will be able to add one more thing to that list: laughs.

Laugh Synth is an app designed for creating, sampling and synthesizing the sound of laughter. Users can record their laugh and then manipulate it through touch into an entirely new, hilarious sound. Four different effects can be applied in addition to the fine-tuned pitch controls. The app has 25 built-in presets making it easy for users to get started creating synthesized "lulz." Not a bad start for the "world's first laugh synthesizer."

Users can email their hand-crafted laughs or share them through Facebook and Twitter. Laugh Synth is currently available for $0.99.

NanoStudio - Synth For Synth Geeks

Posted by Chris Hall on August 2nd, 2010
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

I always amazes me what people can do with various music programs on the iPhone. To me, it would require some seriously heavy duty equipment to make a good synth beat, but I'm no music expert.

NanoSynth is the iPhone equivalent of the heavy duty equipment that I was talking about. Combining "sampling, synthesis, sequencing and mastering in a single application", NanoSynth just about does it all.

"Record your ideas in real time, mix synth layers with samples, compose and arrange your tune using the powerful sequencer and bring the mix alive with real time effects such as reverb, waveshaping and delay. You can use your own samples or record them using the microphone. NanoStudio's low latency audio engine is custom engineered for iPhone, capable of delivering an amazing 48 voice polyphony in CD quality stereo."

Check out the promo video that they made for the app and see its awesomeness for yourself. Enjoy!
