Need For Speed: The Run Racing To An iOS Device Soon

Posted by Jennifer Allen on December 5th, 2011

Speeding onto an iOS device this Winter is Need For Speed: The Run, the iOS version of the popular console racing game.

As expected, players will find themselves in a race from San Francisco to New York across five distinctive parts of the US. There'll be speed races through the desert alongside careful drifting around tight corners. Numerous real-world stock cars will be on offer with upgrades to speed, acceleration and handling all possible.

Healthy competition between friends will be encouraged with Autolog support keeping track of how each player performs. As a fan of the system on consoles, it's an immensely addictive service. Who can resist challenging their friends after all? There will also be Origin support, a common trend with recent EA titles.

Take a look at the screenshots and gameplay trailer below. Need For Speed: The Run is looking pretty luscious indeed. It's out sometime this Winter.

Fast Reactions Are Needed for Tap Maze

Posted by Jennifer Allen on July 21st, 2011
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

So called twitch gaming, reacting quickly to a situation within a game, is often quite satisfying. It doesn't need fancy graphics or detailed storytelling, it simply needs an addictive form of gameplay to entice. Tap Maze hopes to do exactly that by testing both the player's reactions and their reasoning.

It's a free to download universal game that requires players to move a small white ball to the goal of each level while avoiding the obstacles within each stage. Often these obstacles move around so Tap Maze is frequently far from an easy game to complete.

As the screenshots show, the mazes within each level get increasingly complex thus requiring fast reactions indeed. Tap Maze might lack the graphical finesse of some titles but it certainly hopes to make up for this with challenge. It looks ideal for both a quick session or an extended play.

Tap Maze is out now for all iOS devices as it's an universal app. Check out the launch trailer below.

Condense Text Based Information With Trimit

Posted by Jennifer Allen on July 7th, 2011
iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad

Speed is everything in this rapidly moving world. Social networking demonstrates that ably. Providing brief but concise information is just as important but it's not always easy to sum something up while keeping all the pertinent information in there. Enter Trimit which hopes to rectify that problem.

It's the first of its kind - an app that automatically summarizes and condenses information. It does so by using an incredibly complicated and impressive algorithm to 'trim' text to any specified length. All the relevant information is in there, it's just taken out all the fluff.

The app allows for users to set filters, add acronyms, abbreviations or shorten URLs. Even the ability to remove vowels is in there if the user so wishes, although the one-time English student in me isn't so sure about that!

Text can be simply imported from any URL and the results then shared via email, SMS, Facebook, Twitter, printed or saved as a txt file for future reference.

It's impressive stuff indeed.

Check out the video that demonstrates Trimit in action.

It's available now priced at $0.99 for a limited time only, with a regular price of $4.99 in the future.

One Tap Dial

iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad
By Donna Harrison on June 4th, 2009
Our rating: starstarstarstarblankstar :: GET IT
A singularly-minded iPhone application that does one thing well, One Tap Dial is my life preserver in a sea of generic, boring and sometimes expensive speed dial applications.
