The best mobile space shooters like Destiny 2
Word's out on Destiny 2, and it turns out it's pretty good. To celebrate the release of Bungie's newest sci-fi shooter, we've developed a list of some similar high quality shooters on mobile.
Noblemen: 1896 has quickly risen to the top of the App Store charts, and it's easy to see why -- it's an imaginative and immersive third person shooter. While mobile shooters have improved by leaps and bounds over the past few years, few have been truly great games. However, those few are games that have withstood the tests of time. If you want a third-person shooter that's in the vein of Noblemen: 1896, we couldn't recommend these four games any more highly.
Czech Republic-based Madfinger Games (Dead Trigger 2, Shadowgun) is back with another zombie survival first-person shooter that will have you gunning down the undead with a new, prettier Unity5-build engine that will run on your iOS (or Android) devices. That title is Unkilled, and it’s gorgeous, intense, and super accessible - everything you’d expect from the folks that brought you bleeding-edge shooters Dead Trigger 2 and Shadowgun.
The company aims to have the free-to-play Unkilled out this summer, and I got a chance to play it a bit this week at the Electronic Entertainment Exp (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Taking the day off after a... rousing night of St. Patrick's celebrations? MADFINGER Games wants you to spend it playing the recently updated versions of Shadowgun, Samurai II: Vengeance and Monzo. All three of these games have been optimized for the latest iPhones and iPads, and you won't have to dig too deep into your pot of gold as Samurai II: Vengeance is on sale today for $1.99 and Shadowgun will be going on sale (hopefully later today) as well.
Download Shadowgun, Samurai II: Vengeance, and/or Monzo on the App Store this week to catch the green light savings.
After four years and six highly acclaimed games, MADFINGER Games celebrates their fourth anniversary by releasing an Enhanced Edition update for SHADOWGUN.
Not only have the already impressive graphics have been retooled for better optimization on older devices, but MADFINGER Games has also improved the handling, added cloud backup for your games, and created four more levels to continue the story of John Slade and his hunt for Dr. Edgar Simon. The game now supports iOS 7 and iPhone 5c/iPhone 5s. With all these upgrades, you won’t want to pass it up.
SHADOWGUN is available in the App Store for $4.99
After a short delay, Shadowgun: Deadzone is out. The free multiplayer version of Shadowgun, Deadzone offers a variety of weapons and play modes. And it's one of the best looking games I've seen on iOS.
Oh yeah, and it's free???
