Super Mario Odyssey arrived last week, and it's already being lauded as one of the best action adventure platformers in gaming history. People are delighting in all of the hidden treasures lying in wait in each of Odyssey's colorful worlds, and Nintendo has once again proven that they know how to produce a masterfully designed video game.

However, if you don't have a Nintendo Switch, or you're looking for a similar experience on your mobile device, don't despair. There are quite a few top notch platformers for you, too. Here are five of the best.

Super Mario Run is finally dashing onto iOS this December, combining classic Mario platforming with the instant runner formula. Players will be able to start playing this second mobile release from Nintendo on December 15 for $9.99. For now there are plenty of other Mario-inspired platformers to enjoy while you wait for Super Mario Run. Here are our recommendations.

Ubisoft has released the first major update for Rayman Fiesta Run, adding new levels, gadgets, characters, and a new mode to the game.

The new levels are contained within the Candy World, which features new invaded levels and a tough new boss to face off against. In addition to this, two new gadgets have been added to the game - one allows players to respawn after death, whilst the other draws lums to them. Meanwhile, the new Nightmare Mode is set to challenge even the most skilled of players, as perfect runs of 36 invaded levels will need to be completed, otherwise players will be sent back to the beginning to try again.

Rayman is ready to run once again in a new adventure that will arrive to iOS devices this fall. Rayman Fiesta Run will introduce a new world that's full of cocktail umbrellas, limes to leap on, and pinatas to punch. The colorful new fiesta world isn't the only thing new as Rayman will come equipped with new powers that will help him as he travels throughout the game's 75 levels.
