DoubleDutch Releases Collaboration App, Pride

Posted by Kevin Stout on June 22nd, 2012

While the internet may complicate business and allow for quite the distance between working team members, that distance doesn't always have to be a hinderance. New and intuitive collaboration software is quickly popping up on many platforms. Pride is a new work collaboration solution on the iPhone by events and enterprise-focused developer DoubleDutch.

DoubleDutch Pride keeps teams up-to-date on current customers and projects being worked on, creates an atmosphere of openness for the team, and reduces the time and energy spent with meetings and constant emailing. Users can post updates with tagged customers, projects, or locations. Users can sort the feeds by customer, project, or the entire team's feed. The app also has a sort of game mechanic were users can earn trophies and badges, view their productivity analytics, and see a leaderboard with their own statistics stacked up against their co-workers.

DoubleDutch Pride is free, so there's no reason for you and your team not to give it a try.

OmniPlan for iPad First Look

Posted by Jeff Scott on January 30th, 2012

At Macworld | iWorld this week, OmniGroup leader Ken Case showed off the end cap to the suite of iPad applications his company released right after the iPad was announced. OmniPlan, a popular desktop project management app, is now available for the iPad.

Featuring all of the main features you would need while pouring over project plans in meetings or while on the go, OmniPlan is the mobile cousin to the desktop app of the same name. While the version we saw isn't finished, it already shows an impressive interface with the familiar gantt chart interface and support for multiple project plans. All of this data syncs back to the desktop version of OmniPlan.

No current release date or price is known, but the price will probably hit around $39.99 if past OmniGroup app pricing is an indication.

Hit the jump for more screenshots and we'll let you know when this app hits the App Store.

Trailhead Brings Basecamp Collaboration To The iPad

Posted by Jennifer Allen on October 3rd, 2011

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, it's not hard to collaborate with work colleagues around the world. That's precisely how, for example, I'm based in the UK while this very site and most of its staff are based in the US. Basecamp in particular is an extremely handy tool for such things allowing users around the world to liaise with each other through the site and its project management facility.

So how about a way of using Basecamp through an iPad? That's exactly what Trailhead offers. For a mere $1.99, users get an app that allows them to connect to any of their basecamp accounts and browse through the projects. Messaging is possible through it as well as managing To Do lists in a way that Trailhead promises is even easier than the web application!

Developers Faqden Labs promise plenty of updates coming soon too including Calendar functionality, Milestones, People and Companies details plus an Overview.

Trailhead looks destined to be a vital tool to many workers, so why not give it a try?

Project Management is a Breeze with Simple Genius

Posted by Blake Grundman on February 8th, 2011
iPad App - Designed for iPad

In this day and age it is near impossible to have a job where you are not working under the thumb of some management figure.  Heck, sometimes you have a manager even if you are a manager yourself!  The corporate game of checks and balances often falls to the brains running a project, along with their ability to justify every step followed along the way.  Often times team leaders resort to using Microsoft Project 's unwieldy software suite.  I can speak from experience and testify to the product being a nightmare to use.  What if there was an iPad app that could do all of the heavy lifting for already overburdened project managers?

Developer FourthFrame Technologies saw this niche market, and decided to design a product that specifically meets the demanding needs of the field.  Simple Genius Project Pro has been architected from the ground up to be your one stop solution for all things management, touting features such as:

  • Create multiple projects and manage a portfolio of active projects

  • Create a task schedule for each project with table and Gantt-style views

  • Create and manage Action Items for each project

  • Create and manage Risks for each project

  • Associate Action Items and Risks with tasks in a project schedule

  • Set a cost for each task and view cost-to-date, cost-to-go, and total cost

  • View and study the overall schedule for your suite of active projects

  • Produce customized reports for projects, team members, and a group of projects

  • Email a variety of PDF reports directly to the project team or stakeholders

  • Export or email project data in XML format

It is remarkable how flexible the tool is at meeting any potential need that could arise.  Looking for detailed timelines? Simple Genius has your back.  Worried about planning your project's budget?  Once again, all of your bases are covered.  There is even the ability to export reports that can be used to meet any requirement you could ever encounter.

This could very well be the Swiss Army knife of management tools, so why not give it a shot?  Just be sure that you are in it for the long haul, otherwise the hefty forty dollar pricetag might throw you for a loop.  I guess that is what the company expense account is for, though.
