The newest update has arrived for The Sandbox, bringing with it a new campaign and all you need to start a life in the Country.

The new campaign, entitled "Sandmix Vol. 1," contains a mix of gaming, pixel art, music, action, and puzzle levels across the nine it contains. Players will likely have to use their skills and their brain, and maybe even both, to complete them all.

Meanwhile, two new job powders will provide you with the chance to domesticate your worlds. The Farmer has the ability to plant crops and harvest hay after they've fully grown, whilst the Fisherman can (as you'd likely expect) catch fish. To help this process along, Corn, Pumpkins, and Wheat crops have been added alongside new blueprints for Haystacks, Silos, Barns, and Windmills.

As if all of the above wasn't enough, the 'Robocalypse' campaign is now available to all players.

The Sandbox is available now and is free to download.

The Sandbox is available for free (with in-app purchases) on the App Store.

What's New in Update 1.900?

+ Play the brand new Ecology Campaign
Through 20 environmental levels, you’ll have to protect our planet by solving environmental puzzle: Stop the deforestation, find ways to fight the air or water pollution and find sustainable solutions to help the world stay healthy and beautiful. The challenge is real! Have fun while making the difference !

+ Discover 13 new elements that will allow you to deal with environmental issues:
- Unleash the nature’s anger with the 3 natural catastrophe elements: Tornado, Earthquake and Tsunami. They will change the topography of your worlds and destroy everything
- The Eruption will allow you to play with liquids and create volcanoes
- Nature can be rough but mankind is always the most destructive force… The nuclear explosion element reminds this sad truth
- Introducing a new basic element that have many interactions with the existent ones: Salt! Create Sea Water that turns metal to Rust and the Salt Mud to a sterile soil…
- The Blue Whale will swim around and need to go to the surface every minutes to go breathing… If its way is blocked or its environment polluted, this fragile giant will die.
- The Oil Tanker has a hull breach and spill oil around, killing what’s alive.
- Two new trees to plant hope for a brighter future: the Cacao Tree will help the humans to have a better life and the Mangrove Tree will grow in the sweet water spreading his roots in the bottom of the ponds.

GDC 2014 - Grub, Which is Effectively Doodle Grub 2, is on its way to the App Store

Posted by Rob Rich on March 20th, 2014
iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad

The original Doodle Grub was pretty popular (to put it lightly). Well, Pixowl is getting ready to release a sequel, simply called Grub.

Grub will use a similar series of accelerometer controls, naturally. However it's also going to include new power-ups, new enemies, new obstacles, and bigger maps that scroll to follow the grub as he crawls along. You can also save and share video replays with your friends to see who's grubbiest. There's even the possibility (possibility - it's not a certainty yet) of simultaneous multiplayer in future updates.

Much like the original, Grub is going to be free-to-play. You can keep an eye out for it in the App Store at the end of April/the beginning of May. Or you could always request access to the beta right here.

Enter The SandBox Preview

Posted by Rob Rich on February 13th, 2012

Holy crap. No, seriously, holy crap. Pixowl Inc, in collaboration with Bulkypix, are poised to unleash something major on the App Store. It might look like a simple toy at first, but make no mistake: The SandBox is packing some seriously intense concepts behind that cute facade.

When The SandBox first caught my attention, I thought it looked like a nifty little pixelated world-building game. In a way, it kind of is. However, I was thoroughly unprepared for just how many different aspects of this created world could be manipulated. Water will flow down hills, erode stone into sand, turn dirt into fertile soil, evaporate in extreme heat and freeze in extreme cold. Flowers and trees can grow. Weather will develop based largely on the environment. Players can even make rudimentary circuits to do anything from heating to creating light.

The SandBox is still very much in beta at the moment, but that's no reason not to get excited. What's already implemented is pretty amazing, actually. A lot of specifics are still up in the air, such as the final number of "story" levels (currently around 20), price and release date. It's kind of a shame because this is all so cool, but then again it's probably best not to rush things. Although the super-curious or anxious can try to get in to the beta. No guarantees, though. Regardless, be sure to keep an eye out for The SandBox whenever it does hit the App Store.
