If you're the sort who enjoyed making model airplanes and cars as a child, or continues to build them at an advanced level, there is a new app, PLapp, that looks very cool. This iPad-only offering lets users build and personalize an assortment of 3D model kits with no mess and at a fraction of the cost of a single quality kit.

As Korean developers SEMS International put it:

PLapp is the first and only app that enables users to assemble virtual plastic model kits with a sense of reality.PLapp provides users with simple and intuitive interface for assembling and coloring 3D models. PLapp offers not only dozens of realistic materials and a color configuration panel, but also various textures and decals.

PLapp made South Korea’s Rewind 2011 list, and while normally priced at $4.99, to celebrate their award, they will be offering a the app for $.99 through the 29^th. There is also a free lite version to try before you buy. If you get it, please let us know what you think in the comments.
