Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a heartrending tale of World War I. iOS fans can now cry their hearts out with the release of Valiant Hearts: The Dogs of War, an interactive comic book. In the story you follow Walt, the heroic dog. He and his sister Cassie must find their paths of survival through the trenches, delivering messages, and rescuing soldiers. You can even help a young German soldier find his love. The comic uses animation, music, and sound effects to bring this emotional tale to life.

If you own the Valiant Hearts: The Great War iOS game then you can download the interactive comic book for free. Otherwise, you can purchase Valiant Hearts: The Dogs of War's first chapter for $4.99 and the rest of the episodes for $3.99 each, or in a three-episode package for $8.99.

This Is Not a Test, the survival RPG comic by Jon Richardson, recently went free. Players can now experience the comic though the addition of banner ads and limited lives that regenerate slowly.

If you want to remove the ads and recover your lives faster you can upgrade to the pro version for $2.99. The pro version also adds optional color background art, so if you've already purchased the previous color upgrade you automatically get pro.

Tin Man Games has announced that they will soon be releasing Steve Jackson’s Appointment with F.E.A.R. as an interactive digital comic book.

Players will be able to design their own superhero with their choice of superpower, gender, appearance, and costume design. The comic allows players to collect clues, pit themselves against super villains using narrative-based combat, and discover the location of the insidious F.E.A.R. meeting. The app also includes a trading card system. Players decisions may lead them to discover rare cards that they can trade with their friends via Facebook.

Appointment with F.E.A.R. will be released at the end of August on the App Store.
