There are lots of arguments that iOS gamers like to have, but one of them involves which is the best shooter on the App Store. We're not talking about arcade shooters or bullet hell games here, we're talking about first and third person shooters. So we figured it was time to talk about the games that really are the cream of the crop.

And because we're a friendly lot here, we've included download links so you can grab them from the App Store as quickly as possible. And links to our reviews so you can check out exactly what we think about each of the games on the list.

Why doesn't mobile gaming have its own Overwatch League?

The Overwatch League is a pretty big deal. It's an attempt to really push eSports into the mainstream, by turning them into, well, regular sports. But slightly less sweaty. It's a lavish affair with teams from all around the world, and more fanfare than your average LAN party.

Now, currently mobile dominates the world in terms of revenue share. It accounts for just over 40% of all the money spent on games. That's the biggest single slice of the pie, and around ten percent more than console gaming makes. So why doesn't mobile gaming have its own Overwatch League?

Earlier this week, Game Insight, the minds that brought you Guns of Boom, revealed plans for an esports mode in the popular FPS title, with big implications for the game's future. Guns of Boom has been quite popular for some time now, so it's certainly exciting to see how the game's stunning FPS mechanics will be put to good use in competition.

This new mode, titled eSports Pro Mode, shows that the Guns of Boom team is serious about the game's future as an esport. The company is teaming up with NaVi, SK Gaming, and Virtus.pro, all major teams in the world of esports. The new mode is expected to launch in 2018. If it's a mobile first-person shooter you seek, Guns of Boom might just be the answer. This colorful shooter has been on Android for some time now, but Apple fans will be pleased to hear they're now getting a chance to give the game a go.
