Another big-name franchise has come to mobile, and it’s (unsurprisingly) pretty bad. Gears POP! follows in the footsteps of Dr. Mario World and The Elder Scrolls: Blades. All are high-profile mobile releases and all actively engender ill will toward mobile gaming by being somewhat boring knock offs of predatory free-to-play games.

Hopefully, with the launch of Apple Arcade, this will be less of a problem. In the meantime though, there are some games out on mobile that might give you what you want from Gears POP! without subjecting you to its clunky gameplay or intensely haunting Funko Pop aesthetics. See below:

What mobile games are we looking forward to in the second half of 2018? - Emily's picks

Posted by Emily Sowden on July 11th, 2018

2018 has been a bit of a mix in mobile gaming. We've had some real gems like Oddmar, Candleman, and Dandara, and we've had some disappointments, but what about the future?

These upcoming games have me excited for a number of different reasons, and some of them are a little – er – weird. Though it's easy to just focus on what we know is coming and what we know we're going to get, it's much more fun to look forward and speculate on what we don't know, eh?

No? Just me? Well, we'd best get to it then.

It's E3 season, which means it's the time of year that mobile games get basically ignored in favor of super-budget AAA titles and people screaming out reactions to things they're going to be disappointed in when they actually come out in a few months time.

That said, there have been a few interesting looking iOS games announced over the past couple of days, so we thought it was a good idea to round them up to give you a flavor of what you might be playing in the next few months on your phones. Or, in some cases, what you'll probably be ignoring.
