On a normal week we like to give you the chance to vote for your game of the week on Thursday. But since this clearly isn't a normal week, we've decided to give you the chance to vote for our game of the week on Friday. You're welcome.

We've selected what we think are the five best games that came out over the past week, and now it's up to you to pick which of them walks away with the award. There are a number of ways to vote - you can leave a comment here, you can send us a tweet, or you can let us know on Facebook. If you're using the social methods though, be sure to add the hashtag #148GOW so we can keep track of all the entires.

Okay, so we realise we usually do this on a Thursday, but it's been a crazy sort of a week here at 148Apps, and we wanted to make sure that we really had found the five best games for you to choose a game of the week from. We reckon we've done that now, so that's pretty cool.

We've included download links so you can grab the games from the App Store, and explained why we think the games deserve their places on this shortlist. How do you pick a winner? It's been a rough and tumble battle this week, with all of the games managing to get a few hits in where it counts, but after checking with the independent adjudicators at ringside, we can now reveal that gloriously gross smooching sim SpitKiss has won last week's game of the week award.

It's a game about love, polyamory, and modern relationships. But it's also one of the best platformers we've played on our phones for a very long time. And we think that's the finest reason for it to be crowned last week's game of the week.

This week it's been one of the closest run game of the week awards we've ever seen, but after sending the numbers to a specially convened council of counting elders in Bern, we can now reveal that Candies n' Curses has been awarded this week's title.

It's a spectacular mix of the old and the new that sees you legging it around a series of spooky one-screen dungeons, trying to kill ghosts with a flashlight. At first glance it might look like another simple high-score chaser, but trust us, there's so much more going on here than that. Read on and find out what.

After a quick call to the court of arbitration for counting in Vienna, we can now reveal that the winner of last week's game of the week award is the really rather brilliant Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.

It's a gorgeous-looking, super-slick puzzling platformer, and while it sometimes rests on its leaping-laurels, there's so much here to love that it'd be churlish to blame it for sometimes just being a really good platformer instead of a great one. What sort of things are we talking about though?

What a week it has been here at 148Apps towers. We've been swamped, which means we're a bit late letting you know what last week's game of the week was. Don't worry though, we're here now, and we can reveal that Grimvalor takes away the prize.

It was a pretty tight run thing this week, but we're pretty confident that the correct game has won. Grimvalor might look a lot like a Dark Souls clone at first glance, but dig a bit deeper and you'll discover something really rather special lurking in the grim fantasy aesthetic. And we love special things here at 148Apps.

We've run all of the numbers through our massive, high-tech, super powerful AI-controlled computer, sent them off to the laboratories in Switzerland for final approval, and consulted our lizard overlords to ensure that we're not treading on anyone's toes, but we can now reveal that the winner of this week's game of the week award is none other than True Surf.

It was the runaway winner of the prize, thanks largely to a big vote from the surfing community. But how good is it, does it manage to capture that feeling of slicing through the waves, and do we think it's a worthy winner of our game of the week award? The answer to that last one is yes, we definitely do. You're going to have to read on to get the answers to the others though.

It's an interesting mix this week. We've got platformers, cruel action RPGs, a surfing sim, and a game that's all about combining monkeys together to make super monkeys. They're all really good, but it's up to you to decide which of them should walk away with the coveted award.
