Posted by 148Apps Staff on August 5th, 2021

Procedurally generated levels are a mark of roguelite RPGs, but how often do you come across one that’s truly made for mobile? UnderKnight takes everything that’s cool about the genre and packages it in a handy, device-friendly package with its bite-sized, one-thumb gameplay. This innovative portrait control system is easy to learn but hard to master, as players will have to be quick to adapt to the changing environments and engaging battles.

Everything you need to know about GameClub

Posted by Campbell Bird on March 12th, 2019

Game preservation is a problem. When games go out of production, hardware decays, titles get removed from digital storefronts, etc. there’s not a lot of recourse for players to return to titles they once loved. This is a particularly big issue for mobile games, since Apple has proven on multiple occasions that they do not care about games on their store, much less old ones.

Thankfully, there’s some folks out there who recognize this and have have decided to do something about it. GameClub is a new developer that just announced last week their dedication to “bringing awesome premium games back to mobile.” Although they’re only in their early access phase, they’ve already proven they’re up for task. Here’s what you need to know about GameClub, including instructions on how to get into their early access program.

The Elder Scrolls Blades is running an iOS only closed beta event

Posted by Harry Slater on March 4th, 2019

We're getting closer to The Elder Scrolls Blades becoming a real thing that we can get our grubby mitts on. It's been a few months since we actually heard anything about the game - we've seen release dates come and go, and since then not a peep. Until now, that is, because a closed beta looks like it's on its way.

How do we know that? A tweet from Bethesda, which outlined the details around the beta. More than that though, Bethesda has released its roadmap for the next few months, showing that we've still got quite a while to wait until everyone can get their hands on the game.

Drifter is Still Bound for iOS, and it’s Looking Great

Posted by Rob Rich on March 22nd, 2015

Drifter is a pretty cool-looking space adventure that’s currently in Steam Early Access, but Celsius Game Studios has teased an iOS version before. A couple of weeks ago I was able to see it running on an iPad, so I can definitely say that the iOS version is still a thing.

It’s looking really nice, too. I didn’t play it myself but the controls seem to be simple and responsive, and the visuals are pretty darn... pretty. Of course since it’s still in Early Access there are lots more features in the works that haven’t been implemented yet, so it’s bound to be even more interesting once it’s officially released.

Since the App Store doesn’t actually have anything comparable to Early Access we’re going to have to wait a bit for the iOS version, but that’s understandable given how - let’s go with “finicky” - App Store reviews can be. But I’ve been assured that the iOS release should be right behind the Steam release, so we won’t have to wait too terribly long to get our hands on Drifter in its final form.

I think it’s going to be worth the wait.
