The best run-based games on iOS

Posted by Campbell Bird on May 4th, 2021

The release of Returnal has caused me to revisit this list of the best run-based games on mobile. For the most part, run-based games are really great for mobile, because they provide a lot of depth and satisfying gameplay in a relatively bite-sized package that’s purposely designed for you to play over and over and over again.

Although you might not be able to play Returnal on your phone or tablet (nor would you want to), there are still a bunch of great run-based games on iOS to play. Check out our picks for the best run-based games below:

PSA: Dungeon of the Endless Still Rules

The announcement that Dungeon of the Endless is making a return to the App Store via Playdigious as Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee is probably the most exciting mobile news to come out this month. Why? Because Dungeon of the Endless rules, it's perfect for mobile, and it's a shame that it ever got removed from the App Store to begin with.

PAX East 2014 - Dungeon of the Endless Just Might Have a Shot at an iPad Release

Posted by Rob Rich on April 15th, 2014

I think it's fair to say that Dungeon of the Endless has been getting a bit of attention as of late. I mean it's a great-looking game, and from what I played over the weekend it's quite fun and challenging as well. Too bad it's only going to be released for home computers... or is it?

Now before getting too excited, you need to know that nothing is set in stone yet. However, I was informed that the team at Amplitude Studios has actually been looking in to bringing their game to tablets. I mean it would make sense, really. The interface seems like it would be a perfect fit for the iPad. Of course a lot can happen in the course of trying to release a game on a new platform.

We'll be sure to keep you updated if/when Dungeon of the Endless for the iPad is officially confirmed/shot down.
