Blood Brothers 2 - Tips, Cheats, and Strategies for a Happy War

Posted by Nadia Oxford on January 29th, 2015

War is hell:
Is it the kind of hell you want to check out? Read our Blood Brothers 2 review to find out!

Blood Brothers 2, DeNA's follow-up to the original Blood Brothers, is an intriguing card collecting / role-playing / strategy hybrid. There's seemingly a lot to take in at first, but with 148Apps' help, you'll soon be able to effortlessly smack away whatever your enemies lob at you. Have at it!

War Tactics for Novices

  • Claim your gifts when you play the first time - You should receive some gifts when you first play Blood Brothers 2, including a quantity of gold, some rare commanders, and some blood sigils (the game's hard currency). These all come in extremely handy for the early portions of the game, so make sure to claim them! In fact, make sure to claim all your gifts every day. You don't acquire them automatically, and if they sit in your mailbox for too long, they'll disappear.

  • Pay attention to the weapon triangle - The key to victorious battles in Blood Brother 2 is adhering to the weapon triangle. Mounted units trump archers, which trump swordsmen, which trump mounted units. If you're wielding a stronger weapon than your enemy, you'll do double damage. However, if your enemy has the stronger weapon, you'll have twice as much damage inflicted on you.

  • Save your blood sigils - When you lose a battle or run out of stamina, Blood Brothers 2 offers you the chance to continue or recharge for blood sigils. Don't take the offer. Save your sigils for pacts, which are necessary for summoning strong commanders.

  • Don't miss your chance for daily pacts - You're allowed to conduct a pact for new commanders at three points in the day: Dawn, noon, and twilight. If you miss a draw, you can't go back. You have to wait for the next window.

Advanced Maiming

  • Try not to let enemies get the first strike - Keep your distance from enemies when you're on the map screen. If a unit moves on you, they get the first strike. However, if you move on them, you get the first strike.

  • Tap to select a commander, and swipe to use their skill - If your commander glows blue, it means they're ready to launch their special attack. Said attacks are usually best to save for strong enemies, however. Simply tap a commander's portrait to put them on the battlefield and execute normal attacks. If you'd like them to use their attack for that turn, swipe upwards when putting them on the field.

  • Observe enemy details before choosing your commanders for a battle - You can take a look at enemy intel before starting a fight. Doing so lets you know what kind of enemies you're up against, how strong they are, whether or not they can be recruited, and most importantly, what weapons they're wielding. Always take a look at the facts, and choose your own troops accordingly.

Stay Alert, Stay Safe!

  • Retreat to your base for healing - You can heal your units by retreating to your base. You regain hit points whenever you move out, then back in. Don't spam the trick, however: You only have a certain number of moves to achieve your goal in a level.

  • Matching weapon-for-weapon will do in a pinch - Lacking the soldiers necessary to trump an enemy commander's weapon? No worries. Matching a foe weapon-for-weapon is acceptable, too. Just try very hard not to put yourself in a position where your weapon is weaker than your enemy's.

  • Turns recharge tactics - Tactics are valuable because they let you attack enemies from a safe distance. Every turn charges your tactics, so use them strategically.

  • Using tactics doesn't take up a turn - Utilizing tactics against the foe - the catapult, for instance - doesn't take up any turns. It's not a bad idea to save up tactics for boss characters. They can really soften up a fight, especially if you're hurting by the time you reach your final destination.

DeNA Sheds a Little Light on Blood Brothers 2

Posted by Jessica Fisher on December 16th, 2014

DeNA has announced that Blood Brothers 2 is currently in development. It's the sequel to Blood Brothers, obviously; the dark RPG where you must battle enemies across the world of Arnashia.

The game is set one century after the first installment. You'll be building and recruiting your armies as you explore. Blood Brothers 2 will also feature ongoing weekly game events and strategic player vs. player (PvP). This time your friends will be able to join you in the quest to save the world.

Blood Brothers was massively popular, spending seven consecutive months as a top 10 app on US Google Play’s top grossing chart,” said Kaz Kondo, Head of DeNA Studios West. “Having worked on the original, we know what fans liked most about the game. We want to deliver again the fast-paced RPG battles and iconic characters fans enjoyed, but we’re also introducing new art style and spellbinding adventure that will be fun and fresh for everyone.”

Blood Brothers 2 will be coming to the iPhone and iPad in 2015.

Transformers: Battle Tactics will be Coming to the App Store in 2015

Posted by Rob Rich on December 10th, 2014

Today DeNA and Hasbro have announced a new, upcoming Transformers title, Transformers: Battle Tactics.

Okay, but what is Battle Tactics?

Well, according to the announcement info it's going to be a turn-based tactical game with a single-player campaign as well as player-versus-player combat. A whole lot of series favorites will be available to add to your team, from obvious choices like Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Bumblebee, to characters who haven't been featured in Michael Bay movies, like Wheeljack, Thundercracker, and Arcee. Each bot has their own strengths and abilities, and these can change depending on whether they're in robot or vehicle mode.

Transformers: Battle Tactics will be released sometime next year as a free download, but if you want to tease yourself a bit you can register on the official website to earn some extra goodies like wallpapers and Recruit Tokens (which I assume have some sort of in-game value).

Qube Kingdom - Tips, Tricks, Strategies, and Cheats for New Knights

Qube Kingdom is a tower defense game from DeNA. You rally your troops - magicians, archers, knights, barbarians, and others - and fight against an evil menace looking to dominate your kingdom of tiny squares.

Planning a war isn't easy, so here are a few tips to help you take apart your enemies.

Attention All Cube Warriors:
Want to know what we thought of all this qube carnage? Take a look at our Qube Kingdom review!

Starting Out

  • Remember: some fighters have elemental affinities. Certain classes of Questors have an elemental type, which is indicated by a symbol on their profile. There are three affinities: Magic, Metal, and Nature. Magic bests Metal, Metal bests Nature, and Nature bests Magic. Enemies likewise take and deal more damage according to their affinities; if a particular enemy has an affinity, you'll see a small icon pop-up beside them as they take damage. Remember, neutral Questors like knights and archers can't deal element-based damage - but neither are they penalized by elemental attacks.

  • Make friends and accept friend requests for powerful allies. The "qlubhouse" (the blue-and-white tent beside your "barraqs") is where you can recruit allies, including Facebook friends that are already playing the game. Allies can be a valuable way to get automatic access to powerful Questors, and they're also the best way to get social qubes. Social qubes can be used to recruit new Questors, and you get a few every time you complete a battle with the aid of another player's Questor. If you register a Questor as a friend, you get more social qubes every time they help out.

To Arms!

  • Take advantage of each battle's slow start to learn the lay of the land. Enemy waves intensify the longer a battle goes on. Take advantage of slow early waves by getting a feel for the layout. Where are your Questors most effective? What kind of enemies are being thrown at you? Are there any quobelisk traps you can trigger to your advantage?

  • Place long-range attackers first. Long-range attackers are out of harm's way - at least until other archers and/or magic users come onto the field. Enemy waves usually start with melee attackers, so soften things up a bit by putting long-range attackers onto the battlefield.

  • Don't activate red quobelisks! Quobelisks - block-shaped switches on the battlefield - are triggered when a certain number of enemies are killed nearby. Red quobelisks will damage your party members if they're activated, so keep your Questors as far from them as possible.

  • Do take advantage of other quobelisks, however. Don't steer away from quobelisks of other colors, though; they're very beneficial. For instance, blue quobelisks activate roadblocks that re-route your enemies or block their path. Yellow quobelisks activate a fire trap that can clear a crowd of enemies in a second.

  • Upgrade your Questors during battle, but don't go crazy too early. You can spend cubes to upgrade your Questors during a fight. However, during the early stages of a battle you should spend your resources on covering the field with Questors. Once everyone is placed you can focus on upgrades to your fighters' hit points and attack strength.

Surviving the Onslaught

  • Upgrade your Questors as soon as you have the resources to do so. The blue qubes you earn after successful battles lets you permanently make your Questors stronger. Access their profiles while they're camping, and select "upgrade."

  • Check the award boards for valuable rewards. Woo hoo! Free stuff! Earning achievements unlocks rare qubes and other rewards.  Make sure to visit the bulletin board from time to time. They're just south of your barraqs. Unclaimed rewards vanish after a few days, so don't forget about them.

  • Stuck? Do some level grinding. Even if you lack elite qubes to summon rarer, more powerful Questors, your common Questors can still be made more powerful by upgrading them. Doing so requires blue qubes, which can be won in battle. If you're having trouble with a level, re-visit old levels and grind for blue qubes.

DeNA Brings the Pain With Super Battle Tactics

Posted by Blake Grundman on July 7th, 2014
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Years after the Advanced War series successfully melded the world of heavy artillery combat with mobile gaming, DeNA is taking their own whack at the turn-based strategy genre. In their newly debuted game, Super Battle Tactics, players get to build up an impressive armory of tanks and then face off against the competition.

This free-to-play experience revolves around upgrading and purchasing new vehicles, while also performing well strategically in the arena of combat. Successful performances help to attract sponsors, which in-turn brings in the revenue necessary to build out an amazing arsenal. Mix in some social networking features just for good measure, and this may be a recipe for mayhem inducing success.

Super Battle Tactics is now available for free in the iOS App Store as a universal app.
