With the season of creepy stuff and spooks upon us, it feels right to chat about our favourite spooky games, doesn't it? Everyone's got one that stuck with them regardless of the platform. Whether it's the rhythmic drums of Slenderman, the gross mutilated family of Resident Evil 7, or the static radio sounds from Silent Hill 2 (AKA the greatest horror game of all time), everyone's got that one game that rubs them up the right and wrong ways.

In mobile it's a little trickier, only because it's tougher to balance the content and controls in such a way that the experience doesn't feel cheap or underwhelming. That's not saying there aren't tons to choose from, of course. We're very much spoiled for choice.

The App Store has been especially generous in recent weeks, and it doesn't seem to be bucking that trend anytime soon. We've got a slew of fresh new deals that just went up this week.

As is tradition, it is our duty to seek out the best discounted games of the week and serve them up to you in one handy little list. Let's see what's on offer this week, shall we?

The Walking Dead - Season 1

The Walking Dead isn't conventionally scary in the "Aargh! What the heck just jumped out at me??" kind of way, but it's distinctly unnerving. It taps into that instinct to protect those we care about then shows us just how easily the life we once knew can be taken away forever. Forcing you to make tough decisions that are a matter of life and death mean you never get a chance to calm down or relax. Instead, you're constantly on edge in a world that makes no sense any more. Ellie - Help me out... please

Ellie - Help me out... please is a short, but creepy puzzle game that revolves around the player's interactions with a kidnapped girl through a security camera feed. It definitely has some Saw vibes thanks to its puzzle room nature and voyeuristic perspective.

Although the puzzles are a little opaque, immersion in the very tiny game world is precisely what makes it kind of creepy. Not necessarily creepy in the "spooky" sense, but in the sense that players start questioning the game's bizarre setup. Who is the player character? Why is this girl in this room? Since 1996, when the first game in the series was developed using the RPG Maker, the Corpse Party series has been a cult favorite. 5pb games takes us back to where it all started: the cursed Tenjin Elementary School. When the class leader makes the mistake of invoking the "Shiawase no Sachiko-san" charm, a curse ceremony to transport people to parallel world, the characters are thrust into a world of grotesque horror. Corpse Party comes with full cast of voice actors, scenes, and over 20 hours of gameplay to keep you sleeping with a night light on for days.
