Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary Brings Rockford Back to the App Store, But This Time He's Not a Robot

It seems like only yesterday we were reviewing Boulder Dash-XL - although it was really well over a year ago - and it made for a fun adaptation of the 1984 classic. We haven't seen the last of Rockford, though. Now he's getting ready to hit the App Store again by way of Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary from TapStar Interactive and First Star Software.

This new edition isn't solely about giving us another Boulder Dash, however. It also marks the first time in 30 years that the original game's creators, Peter Liepa and Chris Gray, have collaborated on a project. It's not just an HD makeover, either. There will be new levels, worlds, creatures, and characters, as well as the addition of a few gameplay elements that are totally new to the series such as diagonal movement. And for the first time since '86, you'll also have access to a cave editor.

Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary will be releasing within the first half of 2014, and will be the first freemium game in the series.
