The top 5 best cyberpunk games for mobile

Posted by Campbell Bird on September 18th, 2018

Cyberpunk games have come and gone through the years, but CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has reignited everyone’s interest in dystopian hacker worlds lately. It also got me interested in exploring the App Store to see what the best cyberpunk games on iOS are.

After a pretty exhaustive search, I have to say that there isn’t a huge pool of quality cyberpunk games on mobile. I’m not sure what the reason for this is, but it should be corrected. All you devs out there, get to making some great cyberpunk games! In the meantime, check out this list of quality cyberpunk titles that the App Store currently offers:

The week is about to come to a pretty satisfying conclusion. You've got the weekend to look forward to, but after that another five days of the regular grind you have to go through to make money for games and sandwiches. If only you had something else to look forward to. Well, how about these awesome games that are going to be landing on the App Store next week?

We hope that's enough, because to be honest we don't really have anything else to offer. A hug if we ever meet? That's probably a bit too weird to be fair. Anyway, next week we've got rockets, pigs, more rockets, monkeys, and escaping from a cube, and those all sound like the sort of stuff you're going to love.

We've included pre-order links with all of the games so you can leap across to the App Store no harm no foul and make sure you're ready to receive them when they're released. And if you think we've missed anything out, feel free to let us know in the comments section all the way down there at the bottom of this here article.

How is it Thursday again? Feels like only yesterday I was typing up the last list of awesome games for you, our charming and erudite readers, to pick a game of the week from. But here we are, caught in the neverending ebb and flow of time, picking another five awesome games that have come out over the last seven days.

There are some surprises on the list, and since it's been such a good week for games on the App Store, there's a good chance that you're going to think we've missed something out. But that's life, we can't pick every game. And trust us when we say we stressed and fretted about what was going to make it onto the list until the wee small hours.

But how do you pick a winner? Well it's incredibly easy. All you need to do is leave a comment at the bottom of the article with the name of the game you'd like to win. Or you can tweet us your answer with the hashtag #148GOW, or leave as a comment on our Facebook page. It really couldn't be simpler.

If you're interested to see what other games our readers have picked as their games of the week, click here and you'll be able to find out. Or, if you'd prefer, let's get on with this week's options.

The 5 best iPhone games like Zelda

Posted by Harry Slater on September 10th, 2018

There's no denying that the Zelda games are brilliant. And there's also no denying that there isn't one of them on mobile. That might change, since Nintendo has decided to try and make the move into gaming on the go, but right now if you want a Zelda-like experience on your phone, you're going to need to look at less official channels.

So we thought we'd save you the hassle and write up a list of the five best games like Zelda for iPhone. These are games that capture the spirit of adventure of Nintendo's classic adventures. Some of them owe more to recent entries, like The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild. Others are a little more retro in feel, taking ideas from the earlier, SNES and NES iterations.

Whichever one of them you choose though, we can guarantee you're going to have a brilliant time. If you've got your own recommendations for games that scratch the Zelda itch, then let us know in the comments below. And make sure you check out all the other lists on 148Apps by clicking here.

The 5 best match-three puzzle games for mobile

Posted by Daniel Lipscombe on September 6th, 2018

With so many games to pick through nowadays, the sea of apps can be hard to wade through. Countless titles release every day, and they're all vying for your attention, battling it out to try and secure a position of prominence - a game that you play every day.

Match-stuff games aren't the newest genre on the App Store, but you can trace the modern refinements of this kind of puzzle game to Bejewelled by PopCap Games. But, despite first appearances, there's often more to these games than simply swiping shapes back and forth.

Sure, they're generally simple - match three or more shapes or colours to remove them from the playing board to score points - but this is a genre that often relies on skill as well as fast reactions. And we reckon these five games offer up the best examples of how to do match-stuff puzzles right. Disagree? Feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments then.

Which mobile games let you experience life through someone else's eyes?

Posted by Harry Slater on August 10th, 2018

There are plenty of what you might call standard experiences on the App Store. You know the sort of game I'm talking about. A man wanders around hurting people in order to complete some task, quest, or mission. It's the way video games have been for a while now.

But there are other games out there that do things differently, that let you experience the world from a completely different point of view. And it's those games that we're going to be having a look at today.

This is by-no-means a complete or exhaustive list, but we reckon that these games are the best introduction to the kind of empathy and understanding that mobile gaming can offer up. If you've got your own suggestions then, feel free to stick them in the comments section at the bottom of the article. After all, the more we know, the more we grow.
