Asteroids: Gunner+ Now Available on App Store with All Content From Free to Play Version Unlocked

Posted by Carter Dotson on February 10th, 2012
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

For those who like Atari’s modernized iOS remakes, such as Asteroids: Gunner, but would rather just buy an app once and have all the content unlocked, they are now in luck. Asteroids: Gunner+ is now available from the App Store. This is the same gameplay as Asteroids: Gunner, which is the classic Asteroids gameplay reimagined as a dual-stick shooter, but now with all content unlocked upon purchase of the app, instead of having to unlock through in-app purchases. This includes 8 ships, 3 galaxies, and a total of 150 waves of enemies. The game is still universal, and still has consumable IAP for buying crystals for ship upgrades. Note that this may not be a pass for future content as well; the similar Breakout: Boost+ recently received an IAP level pack, but as this game has launched at $4.99, and Breakout: Boost+ at $0.99, the strategy for future content may be different between each. For fans of Asteroids: Gunner who are also wary of purchasing content through IAP, this may be a viable option for them.

FREEday Vol 66

Posted by Rob LeFebvre on November 11th, 2011

Well, here we are again - it's Friday, and we're broke. That won't stop us from rocking some sweet gaming love this weekend, though, since we have FREEday to look forward to every week. This is where we give you our hotlist of the latest, coolest, funnest games from the past week that are totally FREE. As in beer, people. Move along.

Asteroids: GUNNER
This is the latest "evolution" of the mega hit from the good old arcade days, from Atari. This new version has 3 galaxies and 150 waves to test your rock-obliterating skills, three different ships to pilot, over 200 achievements and OpenFeint and Game Center integration. Not bad for a free game, right?

Mafia Wars Shakedown
Where else can you steal from friends and random opponents, defeat bosses, grow your own crime syndicate, and buy over 50 different weapons whith which to rule the streets? This is a free game, online only, and was part of the free app a day promotion this week, so get it while you can.

Galaxy Empire
Gather resources, establish colonies, research technologies and join alliances. Sounds like a sweet RTS game, no? Well, it's free to download, so go ahead and get on that, slacker. Play in an online world with thousands of players, using the app's own online chat system.

Gravity Cannon
There's only one cannon left in the future, and it's your job to guide it through the center of an astroid to clear out the evil aliens! Squish saucers, not stone or lasers. Change gravity to control your cannonball while ridding the galaxy of an evil alien menace!

Asteroids: Gunner by Atari Hitting iOS Devices Very Soon

Posted by Jennifer Allen on November 8th, 2011

Atari has sent us a rather disturbing email today. A cluster of asteroids are propelling their way towards planet Earth! Uh oh! Fortunately, the ship that saved us all back in 1979 in the original Asteroids has had a few upgrades in the past 30 years and it's back again.

Coming soon will be free-to-play, dual-stick shooter Asteroids: Gunner. It'll offer three galaxies to explore with 150 waves of asteroids and aliens to wipe out. Three different spacecrafts will also be available: the Miner, the Bomber and the Dart and plenty of upgrades are on offer. New galaxies and upgrades will be purchaseable with Space Bucks, while leaderboard fans will enjoy the all-important Game Center and Open Feint support.

For now, we've just got a selection of screenshots of what's to come, but I strongly suggest keeping an eye on the Asteroids: Gunner Facebook page as well as here for more information as and when we get it.
