For those that want to monitor their home remotely without having to spend an arm and a leg, Dropcam is a fantastic solution. But despite having a great product, the hardware was being drastically limited by the low number of applications that could interface with the device. Thankfully, those days look to be coming to an end very soon.

It was recently announced that Dropcam will be taking on applicants looking to receive access to their extensive API. So what does this mean to you, the consumer? It means that soon your favorite application of choice could be able to speak with this awesome remote monitoring platform.

WWDC 2014 - Apple Unveils New 3D API for iOS 8 Named Metal

Apple has just announced an upcoming new developer API named Metal.

Metal serves as a firmware layer that allows for developers to have better access to hardware components. It mostly replaces OpenGL. According to Apple, metal allows for 10 times faster draw call rate, can display 1.3 million triangles on screen at once, and add effects like depth-of-field.
