Amikin Survival opens for pre-orders on Android

Posted by Shaun Walton on April 16th, 2024

Join me on the wonderful trip down the inspiration rabbit hole; much as Palworld seemingly “borrowed” many aspects from the hit Pokemon franchise, it is time for the heavily armed animal survival to also spawn some illegitimate children as Helio Games announce pre-registration for Amikin Survival: Anime RPG.

Amikin Survival is set in the world of Amiterra, a world populated by adorable little Amikins. Having awoken with no memory of how you got here or what’s happening, it’s time to do the only logical thing; capture these cuddly critters and force them to do battle are you explore this fantasy sci-fi land.

The 6 Best Mobile Games like Baldur's Gate 3

Posted by Campbell Bird on August 15th, 2023

Baldur’s Gate 3—the long-awaited sequel to one of the most celebrated CRPG series of all time—is finally here, and by most accounts it seems like a game lovingly made for those who like their video game rpgs to feel more like tabletop ones. If you commonly read this site, though, you may be looking for a way to play something like Baldur’s Gate 3, but on iOS. Now, it’s not exactly a secret that you can get very close to doing that by picking up several high-profile ports. The previous Baldur’s Gate games are available on iOS, as are Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights. You can even check out other Bioware RPGs like Knights of the Old Republic or even pick up Divinity - Original Sin 2, the last release from the Baldur’s Gate 3 developers (provided you have a device powerful enough to run it).

This list isn’t about those games, though. I decided to do some out-of-the-box thinking to gin up a list of games that can give you things you might want out of a Baldur’s Gate game while feeling a bit more tuned for mobile or short-burst play. See below for the picks:

The hit MMORPG Tower of Fantasy will receive a new update in December, along with a powerful new Simulacrum. Players will be able to explore new areas of Mirroria with fun new games and take part in a big new event.

Since its worldwide release in August 2022, Tower of Fantasy has made a name for itself in the MMORPG community, racking up critical acclaim. Recently it won the Best for tablets award from Google Play and was fighting it out for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards. Taking place on the distant planet of Aida, Tower of Fantasy is cross-platform and offers very open character development and gameplay styles to swap between in battles.

Apple Arcade: Ranked - 201+ [Updated 7.6]

Posted by Campbell Bird on April 13th, 2022

This is part 9 of our Apple Arcade rankings. Quick navigation to other parts:

1-25 | 26-50 | 51-75 | 76-100 | 101-125 | 126-150 | 151-175 | 176-200 | 201+

201. A Fold Apart

Description:

A Fold Apart combines puzzles designed around a "paper folding" mechanic with a story that examines the anxiety and uncertainty of a relationship being put to the test. Each chapter begins with a texting conversation where you can choose from some pre-determined replies. This then transforms into a nightmarish puzzle landscape whenever one person texts something that strikes a nerve. In this part of the game you have to flip and fold your environment to get your character to collect stars in order to press forward.

Rank Explanation:

If I had to think of one word to describe A Fold Apart, it would be immature. The characters in the game have wild overreactions to each other’s messages in a way that feels juvenile. This descriptor also applies to A Fold Apart’s gameplay, which could have used some more time to fully develop. The controls are frustratingly imprecise and slow, and puzzles need a quick undo or restart button. None of A Fold Apart really feels like it fits together the right way.

The 5 Best Mobile Games like Divinity - Original Sin 2

Posted by Campbell Bird on May 21st, 2021
iPad App - Designed for iPad

Divinity - Original Sin 2 has hit the App Store, promising an uncompromised rpg experience on mobile. In order to play it though, the system requirements are pretty demanding and there are some quirks about the game in its launch state that make it far from accessible.

With that in mind, here’s a list of fantastic games that can deliver much of what Original Sin 2 promises, but without asking you to clear out enough device storage or ponder outright buying a brand new tablet. As a bonus, you could purchase all of these games for just under the asking price of Original Sin 2. Read on below to hear about our picks!

Apple Arcade: Ranked - 26-50 [Updated 7.6]

Posted by Campbell Bird on September 16th, 2020

This is part 2 of our Apple Arcade rankings. Quick navigation to other parts:

1-25 | 26-50 | 51-75 | 76-100 | 101-125 | 126-150 | 151-175 | 176-200 | 201+

26. Kingdom Rush Frontiers+

Description:

Ironhide Game Studio has brought one of their acclaimed tower-defense games to Apple Arcade with Kingdom Rush Frontiers+. Your goal is simple, protect a goal point by building towers stationed by archers, wizards, warriors, and more as waves of increasingly challenging and complicated enemies get thrown at you.

Rank Explanation:

The Kingdom Rush games are untouchably good tower defense games. I can't think of another franchise that even approaches the same level of quality and polish as these ones. That said, I think Frontiers is a relatively weak pick from their lineup to throw onto Arcade. It's great, but it's no Vengeance, so basically on par with a lot of Apple Arcade decision-making.

Apple Arcade: Ranked - 101-125 [Updated 7.6]

Posted by Campbell Bird on September 16th, 2020

This is part 5 of our Apple Arcade rankings. Quick navigation to other parts:

1-25 | 26-50 | 51-75 | 76-100 | 101-125 | 126-150 | 151-175 | 176-200 | 201+

101. The Hitchhiker

Description:

Chat your way down the open road with a variety of different drivers. Things always start out friendly enough, but there's a dark underbelly to these conversations you uncover as you go. Occasionally, you'll also have to do some sleuthing find the next step of your journey.

Rank Explanation:

The Hitchhiker wastes no time getting weird, so no spoilers here. Anyway, the conversations you have with your drivers can go a long time before they reach interesting territory. In the meantime, you can aimlessly look around the car, which can and will frequently trigger dialogue options by accident. This is fine enough, though, since the game doesn't really seem to care what you say to your drivers. Overall, not particularly impressed.

Having successfully left its closed beta phase, MU Origin 2 is no longer available for pre-registration – because it’s now entered its full release. It’s a fully-fledged 3D MMORPG and the second spin-off based on the Webzen’s popular MU universe, merging magical fantasy elements with satisfying gameplay in a mobile experience primed to be shared with others.

Your journey in Mu Origin 2 begins by selecting one of three character classes: Dark Knight, Dark Wizard and Elf. Each one boasts their own diverse gameplay mechanics and upgrade potential, which makes conquering dungeons as part of a team even more meaningful. You engage in combat entirely in real-time, fighting off rival factions and bosses in a bid to prove yourself the best.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades guide - How to get what you want out of it without playing it

Posted by Campbell Bird on April 1st, 2019

Were you disappointed by The Elder Scrolls: Blades? You're not alone. It's a bad game that gives off one of the worst first impressions I've ever seen.

If Blades was your first foray into mobile games in a while though, I feel for you. Why? Because Blades is a poor representation of what mobile gaming can be. It plays into the platforms worst tendencies, but there are lots of mobile games out there that don't do this and are better for it.

In fact, there are quite a few games available right now on the App Store that can give you exactly what you might have wanted from Blades but didn't get. Don't believe me? I made a whole list to prove it. See below:

A quick guide to RebirthM, the upcoming MMORPG from Caret Games

Posted by 148Apps Staff on October 25th, 2018

After a period of open beta testing, RebirthM has just received its official release in Brazil, and Caret Games is now building up to a global launch. This fantasy action MMORPG is styled after classic PC entries in the genre, as well as other contemporaries for the mobile from fellow South Korean developers. You can look forward to creating and customising a hero, questing across the fantastical land of Arcroth and encountering friend and foe along the way. But those outside Brazil will have to wait a little longer to join the fun. In the mean time, here is a bite-sized guide to RebirthM, so – when the time comes – you can dive right into the action.

Choose your class

As with all the best multiplayer RPGs, RebirthM has a character class system so you can create a hero tailored to your play style. There are four classes available: Ranger, Slayer, Wizard and Berserker. As you'd expect, each class has strengths and weaknesses. If you prefer to be a rough, tough melee specialist, the Slayer or Berserker class will suit. For long-range attacking and spell casting, Rangers and Wizards are best. In guilds, a perfect balance of classes is likely the best way to succeed in battle, since each class's weaknesses are compensated for by another's strengths. So don't be shy, make friends with your fellow heroes.
