In an attempt at being a massively multiplayer online fighting game, Little Warrior falls short due to passive gameplay and a lackluster experience.

Little Warrior is an online multiplayer fighting game that allows players to compete against friends or random people from around the world. Characters can be trained, upgraded, and leveled up. Additionally, weapons and special powers may be purchased to increase the fighter's abilities. Unfortunately, the graphics, sound, and passive gameplay do not live up to the game's exciting iTunes description.

Before going into battle, there are several options players can take to prepare. The shop is available to purchase currency, skill enhancements, and weapons. Of course, as with all games of this type, in-app purchases are plentiful. However, this app does go a bit further than most by providing a pricey $49.99 item. I'd love to see how parents react when they find out their child just rang up a fifty dollar bill for some pretend currency.

Training is accomplished through several mini games, which may actually be the most fun part of this game. These training sessions are essential for gaining experience and leveling up. Certain weapons and capabilities become unlocked after specific levels are achieved.

It's time for the battle! This should be the most exciting part of the game, right? Wrong. These are passive fights where you simply choose your opponent and watch them attack each other. Each player takes a turn at delivering a blow to their opponent. The methods of attack are chosen randomly and the resulting damage is dependent upon each fighter's statistics. The resulting victory or loss will be calculated and experience will be earned, preparing you for the next fight. Boss battles may seem to be a bit more exciting, but still only offer the same type of passive fighting action.

The graphics and sound are lackluster at best. The basic character animations are also disappointing. The cartoonish style would be more tolerable if the gameplay was actually engaging and exciting. The app could also use a much simpler user interface that is easier for players to navigate through. The interface seems overly cluttered at times, making it difficult to understand exactly what options are available.

While Little Warrior does provide players with an accessible, pick up and play type fighting game, it lacks refinement to be truly engaging. The expensive in-app purchases are also somewhat of a concern, especially when the game seems to be geared toward a younger audience.
