Toothache Review

Have you ever had that nightmare where your teeth are crumbling one by one and falling out of your mouth at the hands of a mad dentist? Toothache is a lot like that.

The object of the game is to crush each tooth in the mouth of a monstrous creature (your choice of T-Rex, Lion, Crocodile, Shark, or Gorilla) by touching each tooth and avoiding the painful tooth. Once you hit the painful tooth, which turns a hot shade of red, the game is over. Only you don't know which tooth is the painful one, so this is essentially a game of chance, with very little strategy involved other than to finish as quickly as possible (the faster you finish, the higher your score). Optional settings include the ability to toggle music, sound effects, and particle effects (the visual of tooth fragments splaying across the screen each time a tooth is destroyed). Camera navigation allows the player to swipe a finger across the screen in order to navigate around the mouth to gain optimal access.

While I certainly don't believe every game needs to be a learning experience, there is really no value in allowing my 4-year old to torture an innocent creature, digital though it may be. Thumbs down.
