Treading a familiar path, the level of enjoyment gleaned from Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Lair is easily summed up. Enjoy casual adventure games, usually? This should hit the spot. It might not be the most original of games, both in terms of storyline and content, but that doesn't stop it from being entertaining enough.

As usual, there's a choice of three difficulty modes that affect the recharge time for hints, as well as whether there are sparkles in place to highlight important objects. Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Lair isn't an overly challenging game by any means, with no ways in which to fail, so such settings merely affect how long it'll take to be able to use a hint or puzzle skip.

This time around there's more of a focus on inventory-based puzzles, with combining items the order of the day here. It makes the game seem a bit more like a traditional adventure game, although it rarely overtaxes players. There's still room for the usual crowd of hidden object scenes, logic puzzles, sliding puzzles, as well as jigsaws to get to the next section.

The storyline follows directly from the original title, as main character Mina finds herself out to track down Lord Strix's lair to defeat him once more. Annoyingly though, the ending is rather lackluster. In a way, it's fortunate that it'll only take four or so hours to see, as otherwise some might feel rather cheated by such an underwhelming conclusion.

Still, it's a suitably entertaining journey to get that far. Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Lair won't necessarily stick in the mind for a long time to come but fans of the genre will enjoy a continuation in the series.
