Adding some structure to the Auto runner genre, Swift Revenge is focused on the efforts of a determined bird as he attempts to defeat the evil Doctor Crow. It's a fun game, although some players might feel a little put off by there only being 5 worlds to negotiate.

Flying is simple enough with the player tilting their iOS device to navigate the many obstacles contained within each stage. The controls are pretty responsive too which, coming from someone who generally prefers touch controls, is high praise indeed. It's often satisfying to tilt from side to side, carefully dodging laser beams and islands placed amongst the skies. Swift Revenge's main character isn't completely defenseless, though.

Besides having a dive bomb attack, initiated by holding a finger to the screen, a selection of themed weapons also become available as the player progresses. Swift Revenge uses a time traveling theme to make it possible, with things such as guns being unlocked in the Wild West and swords unlocked in a medieval land. The controls can change slightly too with a swipe move inflicting a blow with the sword, for instance.

Each world within Swift Revenge can be pretty challenging but a checkpoint system balances things out somewhat, so tearing one's hair out shouldn't be an issue. Each world is concluded by a boss battle, too, which adds to the challenge. This is followed by even more variety via a shift to a landscape perspective for a form of bonus stage to finish off the world. Further more, it's possible to upgrade weaponry via the coins earned throughout each game, which comes in handy at later points.

There's no Endless Mode to unlock in Swift Revenge which seems like a missed opportunity, but there's still enough content to be worth the $0.99 asking price. It's consistently cute and well made, with its checkpoint system proving ideal for gamers on the move.
