Ever have one of those days where smashing everything in sight seems like the perfect route to stress relief? Just me? Oh. Either way, Smash The Office is a cheaper alternative to genuinely smashing up one’s office in a blind temper.

In Smash The Office, players are given 60 seconds to smash everything in sight. The office itself is a typical, gray, soulless place. Computers, desks, chairs, water coolers and other uninteresting bits and pieces scatter the arena, just waiting to be annihilated. Players use their left thumb to control the direction of the furious office worker, while their right thumb initiates whacking.

Combos can be accrued through smashing things up particularly quickly, with a special move also possible. This special move causes the office worker to spin round rapidly, as they smash everything in sight at speed. Power-ups can also be bought through the use of coins collected in each session. These come in three different varieties, affecting things such as speed and strength. There’s no choice of weapon or any real progression, it’s just a matter of hammering through the office equipment and hoping for a better score than last time. Something like new weapons to buy or challenges to complete would have gone a long way to extending the longevity of this title.

Without that, though, Smash The Office is immensely shallow stuff. Sure, it’s fun at first, but that enjoyment fades after a time. It’s not long before the urge to play more fades. Game Center leaderboards and achievements go some way to counteracting this, but it’s not enough. Those desperate for some stress relief might appreciate Smash The Office, for everyone else, there are better gaming options to be had.
