Ok – This review took far longer than I had wanted. I couldn’t get my son off it long enough to have a go myself! Action packed, easy to use and a whole lot of excitement! Monster Trucks Nitro, is exactly that!

This is a monster truck driving course game. But it isn’t like typical games, it’s really one you can get into without constant crashing and stopping. You can earn medals in this game which is always fun. Especially trying to get a better and better score so you can reach a gold medal every time. The gold medal aspect to get more trucks really is a great addition.

You can unlock more levels and trucks which is always great so the game seems to be expanding forever. Starting the game you select a truck and there is a good variety of trucks to choose from.

Settings available to change include volume levels as well as sensitivity. The default sensitivity however seemed to be fine for a variety of ages that tried the game. In the instruction area of the game it is separated into three areas. There is gameplay, controls and credits. (All pretty straight forward.)

Within the game play there is a throttle to the right, and the break to the left. Which makes for easy game play and user intuitive controls. There is also a cruise control setting if you just want to drive the truck and not think about the throttle. (Not quite sure which player that would apply to …)

There are some great features in some of the levels where you have to loop the truck, so you actually completely rotate your device. This makes for a pretty exciting game! That is the type of integration that makes me think they have considered exactly what an iPhone user would want in this type of game and it gives it to them.

There are 8 tracks for you to choose from, and medals for them, as well as highscores. There are also multiple camera views. I also like how you can see your time in the top left hand corner of the screen. It’s not distracting yet usefull if your trying hard to beat your score.

Even with the current selection of trucks available, it would still be fun if they had more. Or if there was a way we could customize them. I guess this would be a lot to add to the game but hey, we all love driving a truck we have customized right?

Overall this is a really fun game that you can totally get into from the outset. You don’t have an annoying car driving game that you continually crash in and have to reverse out of. Because of the medals you really want to try the levels over and over to get top score. You find yourself wanting to perfect your truck nitro techniques, or at least passing it to a mate to help you. This game is all go – go – go! So go get yourself a copy!
