Simple isn't always the best idea; at least not when it comes to Endless Runner, Monster Snack.

Keeping it a little bit too simple comes Monster Snack, an Endless Runner that's not short on being pretty colorful but is short on content.

You have to fly through an endless cavern in a bid to explore its depths. The only problem is that the rocket propelling you needs regular sustenance and there's a huge monster trying to chase you down. It's a simple idea that relies primarily on your reaction skills and speedy timing. The problem here is that it never really evolves past the first step.

The rocket moves automatically so your sole method of control is through tapping just as you pass under a crystal. Each crystal is a different color, and the rocket reflects which color it requires at any given time. You have to tap on the screen, just as you go underneath the crystal, in order to snag its power. This starts out being pretty easy to do, but soon enough you have to react almost instinctively, without there being any time to think things through.

That's also where Monster Snack becomes more fun, proving quite challenging in no time. Unfortunately though, it never really gets past this stage. There aren't challenges or objectives to aim for, an upgrade system to build upon, or anything like that. Instead, progression is solely conducted via beating your friends' high score.

Monster Snack is consistently well-animated and colorful to look at, as well as briefly entertaining given its twitchy gameplay, but that's not enough to make you coming back for more that often. Endless Runners rely upon offering something new at regular junctures, but Monster Snack just doesn't offer that 'one more go' feeling.

Combined, this absence of features and expansion means that Monster Snack lacks some much needed staying power.
