Similar to freemium Hidden Object game, The Secret Society, Hidden Land is a little baffling at first but benefits greatly from an expedited leveling up system which is sure to keep players keen.

The story to Hidden Land is somewhat baffling and far from vital to keep track of. Players navigate between two different realms in time: the past and present, while solving various Hidden Object sections and minor challenges. There's plenty to read, with mission statements plentiful as well as short continuations of the storyline, revolving around many mystical people, but it's more enjoyable to focus on the steady trickle of success courtesy of the constant wave of tasks.

These tasks litter the side of the screen and provide the basis of what needs completing. Each takes the player around different locations in order to find a selection of objects. Some are described in writing, while others merely offer a silhouette and leave the player to figure it out. Typical other elements such as a darkened room illuminated by a torchlight also feature. None of this is particularly new for the Hidden Object fan and it certainly veers on the simple side of things, but that constant supply of experience is a great source of encouragement.

It's possible to run out of energy and have to wait a few hours to recharge, or pay for the privilege, but I found this didn't happen too often. At least, not to a frustrating level. Hidden Land is generous compared to many other freemium titles, even right down to its dishing out of precious gems, vital for certain purchases.

Hidden Land throws in city building style elements too, offering perks and aid at a vital moment. It can all get a little overwhelming at times, especially when having just completed the tutorial, given how busy the screen can get. Admittedly, this is all clouding a fairly basic Hidden Object title. Under that constant source of gratification, Hidden Land is really quite simple and easy to play through. It is quite fun, though, and given it costs nothing to play, it's still worth checking out for the discerning Hidden Object fan.
