Many video editors promise to be fast and simple, but few actually are. Fly is one of the rare breed that lives up to its promise. Don't expect to enjoy that free price tag though; in-app purchases are the way forward when it comes to truly enjoying what's available here.
It's immediately noticeable when, after completing the tutorial, Fly offers up a list of possible purchases in order to unlock Pro features. As the tutorial has already demonstrated, there are plenty of features that make it worthwhile to buy such tools, but $4.99-$5.99 is a far cry from the initially free price tag. Be aware.
Unlock all those extra features and Fly will soon be a popular app on your iPhone. It's just as easy to create simple one shot videos as it is to create videos that combine four separate clips in all manners of ways.
We're not just talking about transitions, either. Split-screen and picture-in-picture can be easily applied here once the relevant features have been unlocked. As an inspirational example shows, it's a cool way of showing off an event from many different angles. Music and voiceover clips are easily added too, soon making you feel like you're a music video creator rather than just someone collating fun clips. All the better, you can work together with friends, setting up multi-angle videos with multiple iOS devices, creating quite the medley of shots. Each video is controlled through a series of taps with either one or two fingers at a time, and it's the kind of system that doesn't take long to understand.
Really, the only potential disadvantage to Fly is that price. It's worth it though, given the multitude of features it opens up - plus there's the convenience of being able to test them out once for free. Don't expect a free solution, but do expect a powerful one at a reasonable price.
