Yearning for an application that will combine the data streams from both Facebook and Twitter with a well-designed user interface? Then give FlipToast a try! The app will save users the hassle of bouncing back and forth between the two services, and allow them to post simultaneously to both services.
The first thing a user has to do is add a Facebook and Twitter account. Users have to sign-in to their Facebook account and install the app, which requires granting it permission to view some personal information. When entering the password it is displayed in plaintext, which makes it easier to sign in, but could be a potential safety concern. Users then have to do the same thing for Twitter.
Once the set-up is complete users can proceed to the dashboard. There is initially a nice overlay that explains the various components of the app. The dashboard combines all of the feeds from both Facebook and Twitter. It shows photos, the news feed, notification messages, birthdays, and events from both services. FlipToast also has an upload photo option and an easy way to update twitter. The tweet I published with the app instantly appeared, with no lag time what so ever.
The interface is very clean, simple, and efficient. Swipe down to refresh and swipe to left view more a particular stream, like photos or the news feed.
Pressing the FlipToast icon allows users to select just one type of stream to view. When viewing just a single type of stream, users can choose view a combined stream from both Facebook and Twitter, or a stream from either one of the services.
The FlipToast website offers downloads Windows 7 and Windows XP, Windows 8 Metro, Mac OS X, and iOS, with a web app in development. The cross platform nature of FlipToast is really great for people with multiple devices running different operation systems.
FlipToast is a great service. The fact that is works on so many different platforms makes it the ideal social networking app. The interface face is intuitive and simple, and it has all the features anyone would need. Their website even says that the app will be integrating with more services, like Pinterest and LinkedIn soon.
