Take one beloved Disney franchise, add some multiplayer shooting, and watch as it turns into a fairly unsurprising Capture the Flag type game.

Disney isn't particularly well known for its third person shooters, but surprisingly that's precisely what DuckTales: Scrooge's Loot is. Loosely using the DuckTales license, it's not the most gripping of titles but at least it offers something a little different from the normal flurry of freemium titles.

Essentially, it's a Capture The Flag type game. Two teams of four compete against each other in order to collect gold from a central point before delivering it to their respective team's vehicle. Each of the four maps is quite small so it's a concept that's broken down in a matter of a few minutes. Sometimes it's quite fun, other times it can be a little dull. This is mostly because the maps are designed in a way that means it's relatively easy to outrun or simply dodge the opposition. A plethora of launchpads make it especially easy to leap from one side of a map to the other without much trouble. There's also the issue that while DuckTales: Scrooge's Loot is primarily a shooter, those weapons don't carry much of a punch, even despite the generous auto aim.

There is, at least, a fair amount of structure to the gameplay both in terms of the single player and multiplayer varieties. This is in part thanks to the missions available, giving players extra coins as well as a focus to work towards. Such coins can be used to customize one's character too, as well as buy new weaponry and power-ups. It's a similar path but a reasonably effective one, although yet again it really doesn't use the DuckTales license very well. This is a game that could involve any characters and still remain the same.

Fortunately, particularly after the troubles of Where's My Water? 2, DuckTales: Scrooge's Loot requires little need to spend real money to progress so there's that in its favor. It does still have an energy system, but it's not as harsh as Disney's earlier title.

However, it's just all a tad shallow and ultimately quite forgettable. This is a multiplayer shooter that we've all seen elsewhere, but with a few DuckTales skins placed on it to make it seem shinier. It'll pass the time for a little while, but don't expect to be playing it for weeks to come.
